Hi I'm new....wanted to get some rims and tires...I was thinking about 285/40/22 or 285/45/22 but i know both sizes are larger than stock, Will it be rubbing the fender? 35's look small and i've had bad experiences when getting them that small (bent rims, going flat etc). Also are there any other negatives about getting a wheel setup that's larger than stock?

Rubbing will depend on the width and offset of the wheels in combination with the selected tire. But as far as the larger sidewall is concerned it will throw off the speedometer reading. I have 35's on my 22's and I have has no issues with flats or dented/bent wheels.

i have the 35's and it wasn't so bad, my new set up is going to be 275/30/24 , either way you look at it if you have a strong wheel it won't bend as easy as the cheaper wheels

You will have no problem with 285/40/22.
Although its a bit larger then stock, Its actually alot closer to stock spec
then 265/35/22.

The disadvantage will be when you go to choose a tire brand.
you'll have alot more options and better pricing with 265/35/22.

I just ordered my second set of wheels today, have Lexani LSS-5 on 265/35/22 Nitto tires, two of my wheels were bent. Not happy I paid $500 per wheel and they got bent, guess the roads in the North East are a lot worst then I thought. However my tires have no bubbles or anything wrong with them . Decided not to spend that much money per wheel and also changed my profile on the tires to a 40. Hope I don't have any issues with my new wheels, and definitely will be more careful when I put them on .

500 per wheel is actually pretty reasonable for 22s. Some people pay 2-3 times that for 20s, others pay 2-4 times that for 17s lol. I would not have been happy at all myself, but maybe the new wider tires and possibly (depending on brand) stiffer sidewalls will help protect your new wheels. What did you get this time?

Yes I know it's a reasonable price ($500 per wheel for 22's) but I thought they would also last longer (had them for two summer seasons). I decided to go with the BAZO B502 wheel, similar style to what I have now. Just have to wait to months for them, not too happy about that either, but if I have to spend more money I might as well spend it on something I really like .

I would go with the 285/40/22 everyones else is right your speedo will be a bit defferant with 45's. here is a link at what im running maybe it will help you decide. i chose 265/40/22 because i like the stretched tire look flush with no gap. but have not got that far yet.

Infinitifan I just checked out that link, really like they way your truck looks. I'm happy I went with the 265 tire instead of the 285. Still thinking about lowering my truck, but I'm worried about the winter time here, like the lowered look better but don't think it looks too bad without it being lowered .

thanks chino. yeah the 265 tire just gives it that sexy look and brings your wheels out more, but the down side is less protection for the wheels. but its worth being extra careful.. Yeah the winter time will be a bit hard but its just ones of those things you have to give up unfortunately :frown:. but the up side is if you get stuck do to the car being to low at least your car will look GOOD being stuck, lol. My wifes says it looks good without it being lowered but I still want the coilovers on really really bad, and the crazy thing is I have them in the closet now. I actually bought them a month before the wheels and I STILL don't have them on yet:eek: but this sunday will be the day and ill post pictures in the wheels section but i might wait and see if I need spacers to get the wheels out a bit more to my standards. my goal is to get the car looking right and good enough elvis the maker or stancenation.com will post my car on his site:tup:
