Quick question,

Am I able to fix a tire when the nail is "too close" to the sidewall?

Took the car to America's Tire today and they refused to repair the tire for me.
I have the 18" OEM Brigdestones

So far the tires losing about .5 psi a day

They are not bs you it is a fact that if a puncture is too close to the sidewall their is a greater risk of the tire blowing and coming apart therefore no-one will fix it

ya they are telling the truth. if it is with in the last few tenth on the steat belts and the sholder it would leave you open for a tire seperation. not fun when driving at hiway speeds/.

I've plugged holes near the sidewall before and drove totally safe.....just don't drive fast past 90 mph and you should be okay.

It's not worth the risk of an accident or even death to save the cost of a tire. I don't think we should be promoting plugging the tire in this scenario.

ahh got it. thanks guys

anyone know the price for Hankook Ventus tires for the OEM 18s and/or where to buy and install around Rowland Heights/Temple City area?

My supplier carries that brand. Actually I have those in 20's on mine right now.

Give me your tire size so I can check tomorrow. If you still want it I can give it to you at whatever my cost is. My shop is in Santa Ana or if you want you can pick it up from my house off the 57 freeway Imperial HWY exit.

If its that close that they dont want to fix it just get an new tire... Plugging holes if fine where its deemed safe. I have one plug on my rear left and its fine but its right in the middle of the tire

went to America's Tire... and they actually patched it up for me, no questions asked.

Is this considered "too close" to sidewall?

They just wanted to sell you two or four tires. Probably said it's too close and since you are getting one you need two in order to stay balanced from left to right. AND if you have 4WD he would've said those require all four to make sure everything is kosher or the warranty is void.

Damn, that looks like a pretty new tire too

these are my Original tires when I bought the car... already 26k miles on them lol
