cargo cover

does anyone know if it is possible to paint a tan cargo cover black? I have a chance of buying a cover off a guy at my job who is ready to trade-in his FX. I know these thing go for about 400 - 450 dollars. I offer him a 100, he doesn't care he is getting rid of it. :.smile:

They definitely make spray paint for cloth, fabrics and plastics. Not sure how it would stand the test of time or if you need to do any surface prep work first. I've never seen that done here on IS, but you might be able to find some info out on the web somewhere...

Or you can purchase it and sell it to someone else *ahem* and then use that money to look for a black one.

did it come from a 06-08 FX? hope so becuase the 03-05 are different from what I read.

It's ABS, so painting would stick, but it wont be durable from nicks

This cargo cover is from a 05, and I did test fit it before before I bought it. I think i'll try the duplicolor on the under side of this cover to see how it sticks. I will probably have to wait until the spring when the temperature warms up again.

Just to clarify, the cover changed for 05-08. 03-04 was the first version.

cargo cover is the piece that sits on top and can be retracted, it also keeps the trunk area covered and shaded when drawn out.

Oh!! The cover that kind of sits in the air. I got it confused with "cargo mat. Haha my bad. I didn't know they were that pricey?
