Intelligent All-Wheel Drive

Hello people,

I have 3mm spacers in the front to clear the brakes on some after market wheels.

I wanted to know if any engineers in here could shed some light as of how spacers could affect thisIntelligent All-Wheel Drive technology?

Does 3mm spacer not affect at all the technology or does it affect it but is it insignificant?

And what is the line drawn between significant and insignificant?

Thanks,
Price

I had 15mm spacers on my FX45 AWD and there no issues at all with the system.

What, you didn't believe me Price:embarrassed:

You are going to end up with ulcers the way you worry all the time. Relax my friend

Lol, no no not that I didn't believe you. I just wanted to understand more why it wouldn't affect the whole system. :tonguey:

Didn't mean any offence, you were real great help to me in the first place

It's just that, the dealership kept on telling me that I shouldn't put spacers because of the IAWD technology and they're only the FX50 etc etc... and got me paranoid...

True, I should relax lol. But i'm young and it's my first car purchase (in terms of new car, had 2nd hand car before). Actually i think it's in my personality lol, i hate seeing scratches on my blackberry alone, imagine on my car, i think i couldn't stop looking at those tiny scratches on the car for the first month.....

I'm kinda over it and hope that by waxing it during the summer it will be as clear as a mirror once again :tonguey:

Did you lease or finance your car? If it was a lease i don't think i would care as much, but i chose the finance option and intend to keep it for more than 5 years for sure.

NP, I understand :shy: I bought mine also. I have never leased a car. Owned my last 3 Infinitis. I am also very anal about my rides. I think most of us here are.

The most important thing with your AWD system is to keep the rolling circumference of all 4 wheels the same. Putting a 3mm spacer on the front wheels should have no detrimental effects on your ride.

spacers will have no affect on the AWD system.

also, I know how you feel about being anal: my FX is always spotless and the smallest scratch drives me nuts....i have a few nicks and scratches here and there right now form being at school so in 3 weeks when winter break starts my FX is getting its bi-annual professional detail (i usually detail it about once a month.)
This is my first car and I'm planning on keeping it for a while still so i want it to be perfect :)

Nice, where do you get these profesional detailing done? What does it include and how much does it cost?

Hook me up!

Where do you live Price, I forget. I know a few excellent detaillers in Ontario.
Oh, and I plan on keeping this one for a while

Some dude ran into my FX at a gas bar last week, I freaked, $2120 damage:eek:

Damn, I live more up north in Montreal. Where in Ontario are you talking about? Maybe your detailer store can recommend one in MTL? That'd be great!

I live in Kincardine, 3 hours NW of Toronto by Lake Huron.

I will give one of my friends in Toronto a call to see if he knows or can recommend someone in that area.
Here is his website: http://www.gtaindetail.com/

Wow, that's AWESOME!! I'm also from Montreal, so maybe we should get a little FX crew started. Let me know if you guys are up for it. I already met cheechitup88, and ONLY BY COINCIDENCE at a coffee shop!!!

One way spacers could affect the IAWD system is if the actual installation of the spacers displaced a "position sensitive" component. Maybe pushing the wheel out will disengage some sensor or something? Anyone know where the wheel speed sensors are?
