NavTV/ipod integration

Hi Guys,
I got plenty of questions, so I will try to be as clear and concise as possible :embarrassed:

So I'm looking to do several electronic mods to my 2007 FX45:
1.) ipod integration
2.) navtv (to get the front dash navigation system to play dvds)

So far, I am planning to do the following:
1.) install the PA15-NIS for the ipod integration
2.) install the NavTool NI24PIN (from this site http://www.tvandnav.com/infinitiFX2.aspx) for the DVD mod

My questions are:
1.) has anyone had any good/bad experiences with the PA15-NIS? It is a relatively new product, just wondering if any have already had a chance to use it
2.) Is there a better product or cheaper product (and as good) to use than the NavTool NI24PIN? I've searched on the forum and many seem to recommend this one
3.) Will these 2 installations interfere with each other in any way?
4.) Am I able to play dvd-avi movie files I have saved on my ipod onto the navigation screen after installing the NI24PIN? If not, how can I do this?

I think that's it....
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I am also considering the PA15-NIS for the ipod integration. I think that there have been a few installs but I have not seen any updates on how they are working. I am interested to know how it works as well.

I have the same navtv unit and it works great, much cheaper than the tv2go unit.
I dont have ipod integration, but I bought a ipod cable from ebay that has av out. I plug that into the rear dvd (near arm rest) and play audio and video (need to highjack iphone), but as long as you can see it on the rear monitor, then you can see it on the front.

thanks Merchant,
But what if you don't have a rear dvd? I have no rear-dvd entertainment system, which is why I wanted to mod the navi. Will it still be able to play movies from the ipod with the navtv unit?

Wondering how this worked out? Anyone running both the PA15 and the navTV together?? Can this work?

Won't work, this is what I have:

Basically, the PA15 runs into your SAT radio connection. You get text display, change music from steering wheel, charge it, etc...

navTV plugs into your Nav system behind the unit, plug and play. So you are "tricking" it to play another video source instead with a switch.

My PIE can do two inputs. Since I already have a back-up camera, one is for HD TV Tuner and one is for my iPhone.

I play music videos from my iPhone to the screen. 100% of controls are from the iPhone, cannot do steering wheel. Plus it charges my iPhone.

I don't have an iPod/iPhone connection to the SAT, I mean you can have both, but overkill if you ask me as you have two iPod/iPhone cables in your car now -- one for each.

I don't have bluray/dvd player hooked up since I have a DVD player in the rear.

i gotta check out that tv tuner Ed.. Works well?

Yeah, don't forget a noise filter. They are super cheap and prevent engine noise.

I was worried if I threw the car into reverse, it wouldn't work as it should, but it does.

I went with PIE b/c it's quality stuff and 0 cutting. Not sure how the other stuff is, but PIE is a brand my cousin and I knew.

Ah sorry TV Tuner? I mean it's like bunny ears for the car. You get a few channels, that's it.

my cousin might come to the meet so you can meet the installer.

Hey Ed,
If the PA15 runs in to the SAT and the NavTV runs to the Nav, why would they not work together? I'm confused as they use different connections??

what are you trying to accomplish, I might be misunderstanding you.

They both work, but you can't have an ipod running to both the pa15 and navtv unless you splice it.

Oh ok gotcha. I just wanted to be able to have the ipod integration like the PA15
but also be able to use it for videos with the navTV as well. So I could technically have both installed and just deal with two ipod cables correct?

Exactly. Your PA15 will come with a ipod cable to charge and connect to the PA15. This gives you music and text on display.

navTV, you will need a video out signal from your ipod/iphone for music videos and videos, which requires a different cable as far as I know.

so you will have two cable hidden (i put mine in the box behind the cup holders).

Thx Ed, I think I will be routing my wires there also.
