Hello

Can someone direct me to the forum where it states the difference between 2003 FX's and 2004, 05's?

Thanks.

Im looking into buying a FX but the 03's are falling into my price range...But I hear the 04's are more finely tuned in Suspension and comfort..

Af far as i heard,2003 had the most stiffest suspension ever. In 2004 they retuned the suspension. Also the SNOW mode came in 2004 or 2005. No major differences in visual 2003-2005,in 2006 car got restyling a little bit ,especially inside dash.

If you don't mind very stiff ride, get 2003. If you want a little bit softer get 2004-2005

dont worry about the suspension, since it will generally be stiff anyways. most people including myself, enjoy the softer and sporty feel from H&R springs.

Also , no need to start multiple threads on the same subject.

since your looking in the lower priced range fx's, chances are good that your going to want to replace your stuts anyway & posibally springs, so I wouldn't let the 03's be a turn off in that regard...

for the most part 03-05 is about the same... the later 04's & up are the ones where the sport models got clear tails & aluminum roof rack & the textured interior aluminum pieces, as these things weren't available in 03, but were talking bolt on trim & not the vehicle itself... think there were a few other things that weren't available in 03 like lane departure & stuff, but again all pretty insignificant, for the most part 03-05 is about the same... 06 had some major revamping of the interior & electronics & even some of the body trim...

when it comes to 03-05 fx's, milage & condition are going to be way more important factors then weather it happens yto be an 03, 04 or 05...

actually the 03 awd's do have one very nice benifit that all other fx's don't... instead of the snow mode which also limits the throttle response they have an awd lock that just locks the awd up to a certain mph but does not limit the throttle, making for a nice rooster tail kicking snowmobile mode  infiniti realized that awd lock was a bit aggressive for the average driver & 'enhanced" it after the first year to add the throttle limiting that all 04 & up fx's have in snow mode...

Also in 05 we got perforated seats and sapphire blue:wink:... If I could do it again, I would get an 06 for the interior alone.

yeap, I always say if your looking for cheap then even 03's are fine, but if you really wanna get a nice one 06+ is def the way to go...

& jeff, I had perferated in my 03 interior, but no center seem that the newer ones got...

Great replies!!..

Reason I asked about a 03 was that I found a 03 FX45 with Tech and Sports with only 12,000 miles for $21k.

Are you guys telling me if I change out the Springs for H&R I will have a better ride?..I live in the Bay Area where potholes are famous..

I'm in nyc so I know a thing or 2 about potholes too, don't kid yourself into expecting a lexus ride, the fx is not a lexus, but the struts & the springs are the only thing that would be different from an 03 to the later ones as far as suspension harshness...

21k w 12k miles sounds like a great deal, hard to choose between something like that & say an 06 with maybe higher 30k's milage for maybe 5 grand more or so, but overall at just the 21k pricerange sounds like a good pick to me as long as it's really a virgin...

extremely low milage my first thoughts are it may have been a wreck... wrecked when pretty new, sat around & then sold to be rebuilt, sat around,m finally got rebuilt, walla, shiney looking low milage gem:rolleyes: that's why I said IF it's really a virgin...

Yeah agree. It is like people in germany say "i used car only on weekends and only once a week to go groceries" so dats why so low mileage. 12,000 in USA? :) suspicious. check carfax on it. maybe it is 120,000 miles?

FWIW I just bought an 05 w/ 25k miles and it was "virgin" for 22k so it can be done...

It belonged to a soccer mom who usually drove her slk230  except when the weather was bad, otherwise it just sat in the garage.

Very suspicious 12k miles for 03???? odometer rollback 90% possibility :-)

ding ding ding!..Update...No rollback, but was in a collision..Sat in the bodyshop for 3 months until the owner decided to start fixing it..

I passed on this on the quickness!..

thanks..i will keep you guys posted!

they all have the same automatic torque convert system? i read it somewhere that the 03-05s have the awd lock button where you can turn it on and off.
