New to IS, New to Infiniti

Hello All!

Just got my first Infiniti, a 2009 FX35! Black on black, dark tint, prem package. Curious what everyone's thoughts are on the lease invasive way to up the bass level? Like many, I like the sound of the Bose system, but it needs just a bit more oomph! It's not quite to the level where it feels like a big guy hitting the back of your seat with a baseball bat, but I want to try and get closer to that... :.smile:

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Rustin Welcome to the Scene.

There are two ways of going about getting more our of your systems.

1 you can opt to get get an aftermarket sub woofer and amp to get the sound you want

or 2 you can see if this type of application would work on your FX....

Welcome to IS! Yeah, the Blose system has made us all itch at one time or another.

Labor is cheap right now and finding a big guy with a bat to whack your seat might be an inexpensive alternative to a complete subwoofer set-up. I would suggest verifying the applicants rhythm abilities first, if he/she cannot sync up with the bass in your music it could get very annoying on long drives.

Thanks! I was looking more for an aftermarket sub/amp set-up and curious what the best way to run power to it would be, or if there's really any easy way?

Two ideas.

First, you could disconnect the Bose sub and use the power wire from that to go to your new amp. You might even be able to use the trigger wire. Not sure.

Second you could just run a wire from the battery along the passenger side carpet and under the trim all the way to the back seat. It's really not that tough to do. I did this twice - once to the Epicenter and once to my sub amp.

Thanks all! I was looking at the wire penetration through the strut tower, and it looks like quite a reach to get to the penetration point. I haven't seen it on the Gen 1's, but the 2009's have it tucked way back under the shroud forward of the windshield...the battery is there too, which I haven't yet envisioned how to wrestle out of there if needed...probably should read that 2" thick owners manual for some suggestions.

Most of us penetrate the rubber boot going through the firewall behind the battery. You have to remove the plastic surrounds to gain access, but don't need to take out the battery. Just disconnect it during work, of course!

Just make sure to seal up the rubber boot with some silicone for waterproofing. It's a slightly shorter wire run this way, inside the car under the rocker panel trim, under the back seat and into the trunk/sub floor.

Thanks, I'll take a look. If it looks like too much of a pain-in-the-ass, do you have any suggestions for a good car audio shop here in town? I really don't trust any of the "installers" at the box stores like Best Buy, Fry's, etc. as I've heard too many horror stories about butchered wiring harnesses etc. from careless clipping, snipping and tapping...next thing you know your radio doesn't work at all, along with interior lights, tail lights, rear window defroster, etc.

Why actually, yes I do. I used Unleashed Autosports off 290 just outside of 610. Check out this thread:

They did my aftermarket sub/amp/epicenter install. If you want to listen or see any time, let me know - drop me a PM and we can meet up.
