My story

So here goes my story from this weekend and it wasn't a good experience for me. I had to drive my buddy to Calgary from Edmonton about (187 miles) to pick up his new car. After i dropped him off in Calgary me and my buddy decided to go to the mountains (Banff about 60miles) for a couple of hours to hang out. At about 1am we decided to head back to Edmonton and since than problems started. In Banff i could hear metal on metal grinding noise at slow speed and at a higher speed it kind of tuned out but i could still hear it..I kept driving because i didn't want to stay on the highway and just when i got to Calgary and slowed down the noise increased drastically and the car began to shake. I slowed down to 20km/h and the sound was soo bad that it sounded that my tire is about to fall. I thought that it was my wheel bearing because it was coming from the wheel. So i had to sleep in a car because it was 2am and nothing was open. I called for a tow truck he told me that the only repair shop is Canadian tire that is open on Sunday and it was really close to where we were. After terrible sleep i got to Canadian tire and they told me that they can fix it and that i have to wait till 2pm for the part to come. After waiting till 2pm they told me that they ordered a wrong part and that every shop that carries it is closed. I was really pissed off for that and i had to be back in Edmonton monday morning so i took a plane to Edmonton and left the car to at the crappy tire to fix it.
Today (monday) afternoon i fly to Calgary to pick up my car. Driving back i can hear the noise again but on a different wheel ( front right instead of back right )..
So now the question is it a wheel bearing again but just on a different wheel and if its a common problem for fx?
The noise starts at about 40km/h and its like loud roaring noise that increases when the speed increases and at a slow speed it sounds like grinding noise.
Crappy tire did the whole suspension inspection and they didn't tell me anything about another bearing.
What are some good companies that make good quality wheel bearings for fx's (websites)?
So here is my story and any advice would be very appreciated.

Did they ever tell you what the problem was? What was the part they had to order?

Sounds like it could also have been a brake problem (rotor). Or maybe the brake dust shield got bent and was scraping the rotor?

If it is/was the wheel bearing, you just replace the entire hub - $150 + shipping.

There's a good, "replace your hub DIY" write up on here.

I know for sure that it was wheel bearing because the whole wheel was moving but im not too sure whats the problem with the front wheel.. It just makes this loud noise from a wheel like a plain is taking off (roaring ) the faster i go the louder it gets

Just need more info to help you out. The noise by itself doesn't tell me enough. Did you get a receipt from crappy tire? I'd like to know what part they ordered - you know, the one they got wrong the first time? What did they do to fix it? How much did they charge you?

If it is definitely the bearing, just replace the hub. If you can find only the bearing and have a special bearing puller/installer tool, you can just replace the bearing and not the whole hub. I think it would be less trouble to just get a new hub.

Crappy tire replaced the whole hub, they charged me 178 for the part and 210 for the work.. Yeah, i dont mind to replace the whole hub but im just wondering if this loud noise could just be from the bearing/hub or the problem might be alot more serious??
I called infiniti dealership today and signed up for the inspection but it wont be until next week..

178 for the hub sounds right. Labor charge sorta blows - it should not be more than a 1 hour job for a shop - $80 labor.

Wish I could be more help! If they replaced the hub and there is nothing wrong with that side anymore, then that was probably it. But you said now you hear the same thing from the other side?

I can't think of what it could be besides your brakes or your hub. Two long shot possibilities - broken spring rubbing on the inside of your wheel. Or I was thinking that maybe some of the plastic wheel well material got bent back and is rubbing on the tire, but that would sound different than metal to metal. Roaring is a strong word - I have a hard time imagining what would be so far out of whack that it's loud like that.

Good luck with the inspection.

Thanks buddy,i appreciate it very much...
The rear is done so im not gonna worry about it.. I Still think thats its a bearing problem but its weird because its not an old car and wheel bearing is not something that would break down..Is this a common problem with fx??
Im kinda dissapointed because i just got this car like a month ago..

Not a common problem at all - in fact if you search, I'm not sure you'll find another case like that here on IS. That's one reason I'm interested. Trying to figure out what it could be?

Did you check the carfax before you bought? lol.

Maybe degreaser got into your hubs, flushing out the bearing packing grease. Not sure WHY that would happen. It would be ok for a little while, then the bearings would heat up too much and fail.

Could the car have been in a flood? Does it have a new floor carpet?

Getting it thoroughly inspected by a dealership with a good service reputation is probably very important. I'd want to know what else is going on.

I bought it from a dealership, got the full inspection: carfax and and car report.. Everything was in a tip top condition according to the dealership i bought it from...
I'm gonna get them in deep shit if they won't pay for my repairs...
