I am currently BMW x5 2002 3.0i owner,it is an amazing handling car. But it cost too much to repair it :-( Spent over 14k in 1.5 years. Well I decided to sell it and get 2006 FX35 AWD. So what are the most common issues to expect from Infiniti FX35 ? How is reliability? Cost of repairs?

Welcome to iS! How much did you sell the X5 for? I'm interested in seeing since you put that much into it in repairs.

I bought an 06 FX35 with 36000 miles on it in May of this year and have had very few issues with it. Some quirkiness with the tach (it's at the dealer right now) but other than that I love it. It's a great handling SUV, you should be happy with it.

Didn't sell it yet.

I am in current process of selling and will be getting FX soon due to being a student and can't afford expensive repairs.

I have many mods on my 02 X5,so i will be selling it around 18-20k

Ok that's good. As long as you sell it for than what you put into it, it's good.

Yeah, very dissapointed with amount of $ i spent. It is made out of gold car now, considering that i paid 18k for it in 2008 and now i spent over 14k for repairs,it is SUX.

So what expensive repairs to expect from Infiniti FX? Or only brakes isssues?

I haven't had any repairs to pay aside from stuff I've caused. I've even had stuff repaired under warranty that probably could have been put on me.

Infiniti's are pretty reliable. I have had mine almost a year now and have not had any major/expensive problems. New brakes were the most expensive and they were only like 300. What mods did you have on the X5, I love that car, but yea they have a lot of problems. My mom used to have one and there was always something wrong with it.

U of I student? Welcome to the forum, FX's on the whole are pretty bullet proof, if you get an 06' you have about 6 months of warranty left.

Spent some quality time in Moscow back in the day.....
Out of topic. But have you done here? Here is so boring. I am student here,so just have to be here till done till study.

How is the ride quality in FX? X5 was very bouncy even on a little bit old roads. FX smooth or bouncy as well (stiff)?

ouch man, thats alot to have to shell out for any car...

As for the FX, the most common issues that have come up are issues with the seat leather bubbling (pre 06?) and having to replace hub bearings at random intervals. Some have had problems with the dash bubbling lately as well, but that may be isolated to the hotter/humid areas. Most have not had any mechanical issues though, I don't think you can go wrong with the FX. If you are going to buy a used one, try to get a certified pre-owned as it extends the powertrain warranty to 100k miles.

I havent had to pay for any of my repairs since they were all under warranty. I replaced my brakes myself so I don't know what that would cost at the dealer.

oh yeah, make sure you have the cupholder insert! lol a couple people on here bought theirs used and found out they were missing the cupholder insert so their drinks were sliding around the cupholder.

Well, you ARE in the Polouse man, not a lot of stuff going on out there. It's either parties, bars or road trips........to offsite parties......You can check out the WSU campus for a break in scenery head or up to Coeur d'Alene or Spokane. Hey, you can start the 1st Idaho FX chapter!

FX will or should be a little more forgiving than the stock X5 German suspension. Adding an STB wil remove some of the post pot hole shudder but it will be a bit tighter. Do you have eighteens?

Currently have BMW X5 with 20" 315/35/20 rubber on it :-) Handles like on rails. But i am planing to get Infiniti FX35 AWD 2006-2008 this month,as soon X5 sold. So how is sport package on FX? drives great? handling? stiff? smooth transmission?

X5 sometime shifts very smooth, but sometimes terrible if accelerate fast. :zip:
