hey guys I'm new here....

I just traded in my Titan for an 05 35. I noticed with the Titan motor at about 3200 RPM it would kind of "kick" almost like a turbo coming on I assumed it was the DOHC motor and that was its "sweet spot"

Do the FX35's have a happy RPM where if i'm crusing at that RPM and i punch it, it will take off like a bat outta hell and not want to lag?

well from a stand point the FX have minor lag within the first Three gear shif.. after that is gone!.

i usually cruise around 60mph and i have no lag if i punch it.. it just take off..

This is only the case on a 35.

On a 45 you get a kick at (3,500 rmp to about 4,000 rpm) 4th to 5th gear, just like there is on a Titan 5.6 V8.

I think the "sweet spot" changes with modifications too. A 5/16" plenum spacer gives you better low end response. A 1/2" spacer is better for the upper RPM range. Intake & exhaust impact this as well. But yes, there's definitely an RPM range where the FX seems happiest.

you and your boost

You and your ugly ass overpriced boost

Pssssssssssttttttttt!

Sucks that all the bimmer forums don't have the fun IS has though.. Majority of the X5-6 users are old folk who doesn't care shit about boost. No downpipe mods, no proper aftermarket exhausts.. Just springs and boost mods.. I want to mod the heck out of this car.. Sucks big time..

Anyways, enough thread jack. My FX had the sweet spot at 2nd or 3rd gear around 3500rpms. 2nd gear was instant kick, 3rd was a little laggy. It was keeping the push until about 5500-5700 rpms and would lose its breath after that.. I think it's about retarded timing at the high range that prevented it from going all the way..

Yep sold his FX and went Euro on us!! Lol. It's great to have him around just like frank they give us good advice and tips to the rest of us FXers!
