Just paid for my 2007 FX35...Sports, Touring, Tek and Handsfree Berrylium over Brick!!!

FX is getting detailed and i'll be picking it up on monday.

3 questions
1) Extended warranty - 1876.00 for 60mos/100k is it worth it?
2) Express Systems protection - 400.00 exterior and interior treatment protection against stains, bird dropping, tree sap, fading (i'm hoping)....less to no waxing. Any thoughts on this?
3) Clear bra - worth it? how much is a fair price for this?

Congrats on the car...

Extended warranty is a judgment call on your part.

I definitely wouldn't do the Express Systems protection.

The clear bra... It's a good idea if you live in areas where there are alot of gravel on the road but in urban CA, probably not worth it. Remeber, it is just a piece of plastic. It may be resilent but it is flexible, so sharp points on a rock will still put an indentation on your bumper. Plus it's never really clear. Especially after a few months in the CA sun.

Oh, another situation where it may be worth it is if you drive in back roads at night where there are alot of bugs.

Welcome and congrats on the FX.

1. That's a personal call. Some have it and some don't. I think most members here do not have one.
2. BS. Just get a good wax job 2-3 times a year.
3. Personal preference also. Some swear by them and others can care less. Also depends on what road conditions you mostly drive in. But it will help protect the car from more rock chips to the paint.

1) i feel it was a good idea for me. I bought my fx used so i dont know the history of it and i dont need any surprises.

2) Sounds like crap

3) Not a big deal for me since there isnt a lot of gravel on the roads and i dont do large amounts of highway driving.

Welcome to :iS: all things FX:tup::tup:
I got an extended warranty with mine just beacause I was buying a used non certified FX with 59k and wasn't sure what issues it may have had in the past and I looked at what major repairs cost on the FX's.
Thats why I also took it to the dealer for the 60,000 mi service instead of doing it myself so I could have everything checked out as well.

1) I have the warranty, and it has come in handy-- I had some window issues. The stealership has big $ prices for small repairs.
2) Depends. I agree that for what you listed, its garbage. However, does this also include PDR? If it included lifetime PDR, I'd do it. Most of the people on here have had fading trim pieces replaced under the factory warranty...
3) Are there a lot of bugs where you live?

Thanks everyone for your responses! I missed getting a hold of them in time yesterday and they had started on the treatment. Oh well, i guess i'll write it off as a learning experience. I figure I'd be spending a 50-100 on the chemicals/waxes/etc and the time to do it, probably totalling up to 200 perhaps. So, maybe a lost of 200.00 bucks (since the total price they charged was 400.00).

I'll make sure to post sooner before making any major purchases in the future!

As far as some of the questoins:
1) yes, i drive on the freeway everyday about 60miles back and forth
2) bugs, not a lot, but rocks for sure
3) extended warranty, i think i'll keep it, at 29k, i'll get about 70k more miles of coverage.
I was told to replace a broken navigation alone is worth the 1876.00

thanks again everyone!

Holyfield, how do you like your ClearBra? how much did it cost? worth it?
I dont have a lot of bugs in NorCal but alot of rocks do tend to hit the front of my cars over the years while driving to/from work.

Not sure on the cost-- mine had it when I bought it. My car has 27K miles and there are hardly any rock chips on my front bumper.

My old Toyota Celica was littered with rock chips, so it appears that the clear bra is pretty effective.

it seems that you should get a clear bra from the information provided. one popular brand that makes clear bras is 3M. You can get it on ebay and bring it to an installer to save $$

btw welcome to iS!

Thanks to both of your for your input on the ClearBra! I'll be looking into it now.
