Based on these pictures it would need a good amount of trimming. Especially for the charger belt.

Awesome idea - think I you just showed me my next weekend project...

Did this bracket swap this weekend. Super easy to do. Looks so much nicer from just removing three OEM brackets. Besides being all different colors, the zip tie mounting locations are plastic. Swapped out for three zinc coated, rubber padded P-clamps. The two immediately in front of the plenum are 1" clamps and one on the lower right side where the MAF splits off - I used a 3/8" clamp. Original bracket mounting bolts used in the same locations.

I'm saving the brackets just in case the Rare JDM harness cover needs them to mount. Also plan to install a grounding kit, so need to make sure the cover won't interfere.

^^ how about some pics
Here's a before picture (this was a while ago)

Ask and ye shall receive! The brackets that came off:

And the cleaned-up harness. The third clip is under the dipstick in this photo.

I may take a look around the engine bay to see where else it makes sense to do this. While moving the harness around, I could hear the sleeving cracking - 100,000 miles of heat cycles will do that to plastic. Tec-flex is probably a good idea. Thinking about the heat cycles - this P-clamp mod might actually expose the harness to more heat than OEM at the attach points. I may consider a very small heat shield under the bolt - maybe something like a square inch of teflon or carbon fiber. But that's another day.

Ya, that is clean. I think I went diff, cuz I didnt want those bolt posts visible . . juat waiting to gouge me when I lean into the bay . . pretty much why I left a couple useless brackets. Well, not completely useless. They hold the couplers.

looks good, you can also remove a few more brackets around the spark plug area. This will free up the main harness so you can move it forward on the left side.

I took a look at that - it seems like those brackets actually hold the harness away from the engine. Was thinking to replace those with what I have would put the harness right up against the engine and without a heat shield I'd rather not do that. But I would still consider going to aftermarket p-clamps in those locations with a stand-off or small heat shield. Have to think about it.

Checked with Z1 performance - they still stick to the ETA of, "end of september" before the polished covers arrive. SO looking forward to getting that delivery. Isn't funny how a simple cosmetic part is so damn exciting to me? I totally understand why non-modders look at me funny. Oh well!:tonguey:

Rare JDM harness prep

Did a little more work on the harness today - also installed a 4 wire ground kit I bought from a local G owner that makes them. Really good quality stuff. I'm not totally satisfied with the placement just yet. Still some more adjustments to make. But I did remove two more brackets on the left side of the plenum.

Notice I split the ground wires between two posts. Plan to get a copper plate that attaches to both points (maybe like the JDM Earthing kits) that acts as a central grounding hub. Just an idea.
