Hi:
I'm thinking to put the window deflector on my FX, so that I can have some fresh air on in the rainny days or parking in the sun..

which type of the window deflector you are using on the car?
The tape-on type or the in-channel type(weathertec) ?

I had the in-channel type on my other car before. after a while, the window glass became off position.

any one using the tape-on style? how do you like it? where to buy?

Have and love the Weather-tec, in channel style. Better design with retainer clips that fit into the channel first. IMO the stick-ons look cheap, and don't do the job as well as the ones that fit up close to the window. I can roll the window down more than an inch and still have the deflector overhang. It also makes me feel much better about leaving the windows open a crack during the hot Texas summers - the deflectors can not be taken out without being broken with the windows down just a crack.

Also got the hood deflector after my third rock chip in two months of ownership, and I would recommend that if you can deal with the look. IMO, the roof deflector was not necessary. No real benefit.

If the window went of track it your last car it's possible the deflectors caused it, but it might have been normal wear and tear on the window too. I had the weather-tec deflectors on my 1997 Jeep grand cherokee for 7 years and never had any problems with the deflectors or the windows. I like the quality of the product. If you do get the weather-tec set, I suggest you take the time to remove the logo decals before you install. After time, they start to peel and look bad.

Funny, i was just outside installing my weathertech window deflectors. Front deflectors were EZ but i am stuck on installing the rears. Those 2 metal clips you're supposed to slip under the weatherstrips dont seem to be wide enough for the weatherstrips to slide back correctly. The weatherstrips are bunching together ride underneath the clips and i dont want it to rip....anybody else have this issue?

Had zero issues with installation. Are you using the little tool they supply to get the clip seated in the channel all the way? The rubber shouldn't be affected at all.

thanks for the tip, does the longer/curved side of the clip face outward away from the car? i'll give it a 2nd try later today.

Yes - it should curve down and away from the window and then the wind deflector goes on TOP of the clip. The clip pushes the deflector away from the top of the window and against the channel to hold it in place. You should be able to see the clip from the inside of the car, but not the outside.

Still debating on deflectors. Had them on my Land cruiser (really liked the fresh air all the time concept) but the big chunky body of the Toyota supported the "add-on". The body of the FX comparitively is clean and smooth and the deflectors IMO would screw with the lines....Hey-had rain the other day and the clean smooth roof dumped water all over my clean smooth leather seat when I opened the door.......

This is the first time I have seen this thread. I read it once through, got out my credit card and ordered up the mats. They don't look so bad compared to what I have seen in the past. Just in time for the rainy season.....
