Well, I was cleaning up the 09 FX today and I noticed there is one spot that the finish is coming off the grill.
Has anyone else had this problem yet?

Infiniti replaced my grill on my 2007 G35 Sedan because of excessive pitting and chipping of the grill, I hope this isn't happening again with this one.

I had the same issue with an 05 FX and simply replaced it with an aftermarket grille. I hope this is not a chronic problem on the new fx's.....I pick mine up next week....

As I said previously they did have this problem with the 2nd Gen 2007 G35 Sedans and my grill was replaced under warranty on mine after owning the car for just a few months.

I say get it replaced under warranty then, and see if you can keep the old one and paint it black, or some other color.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my 06 grill. I'm going to try to get it replaced under warranty.

Is it possible that they let me keep the old one?

My chipping has not got any worse on my FX, it is one small spot.

If they replace your grill they may let you keep the old one, I know they let some people keep theirs when they were replaced on the 07 G35 Sedans.

I don't have this problem, and it is the only part of the front that is not protected by 3M
LOL, same here. On my FX I think I was just unfortunate to have a stone hit my grill but that's it. I have a full bumper wrap and front end wrap on mine with Venture shield. I had 3M on my last 2 Infiniti's, but I went with Venture Shield this time. It cost a bit more than the 3M but is worth it.

the only finish coming off of my grille is from the guy who was taking my 3m bra off the car and using a chemical---it got on the grille and took some of the sport finish off

My 06 sport grille was peeling after a year. My dealer replaced it no questions asked but would not let me keep the old one. Depends on the dealership.

the black chrome finish of the sport grilles or even the 09 grille are just a tinted clear coat on top of chrome from the factory. because it is on top of highly smooth chrome it can only have so much "bite", if it etched the chrome as it was applied it would kill the black chrome look, same of course if the chrome was roughed up a bit for better bite, can't do it because the smoke clear is translucent, so it is applied right over a smooth chrome finish. if it gets a rock chip it can & will eventually peel where this coat is compromised, unavoidable really & depends on the hwys where you are, some areas are always under construction & the amount of debris hitting you car is pretty high
