in most cases, cant you get away with a wedge, 7 iron and 5 iron + putter?

the 9 is pretty close to a wedge.....so you can get away with not carrying the 9.
But like if your on a budget, i think the wedge, 7 would be good
 
Yeah, I just use my dads old irons now. Whenever I go hit, I just swap out his fancy, new, burnt orange shafted (Ken) irons with the old ones.

No, in most cases you cannot if you are at all serious about the game. Now if the local par 3 course is more your style then yea you can go knock around some balls and chug down some brewskies while your at it and have a good old time. But if you want to be good at the game then you will need a full set of clubs.
 
yeah i understand that.....but if your just starting off and kinda on a budget....cant you just start off with those and build on (if you cant afford a full set)
 
Yea, I guess you could if you were really on a budget. But, then golf is not really a budget minded sport. You can usually pick up a good solid used full set for less then $200.

I have a set of Titleist sitting in the garage
 
Golfs not cheap at all its pretty much min 20-25 to play at a nice course then of course balls and clubs can go through the roof!!!

$20-$25????? Thats considered a Par 3 course here.....our nice courses are like $100+
 
I guess it pays to goto your neighborhood goodwil sometimes!

And yea Cal golf courses are pretty $$$. Avg of $60 for a decent course.

I'll have to bust out my weekend calendar and see what it looks like. I'm still coming down from this last weekend's excitement!
