GTSPEC FX35 Coil Over Kit *** Possible ***

hey guys:

I was reading the thread on the coil over kit request. I make a few phone call and was able to source this coil over kit from the manufacture of APOLLO.

There are two version, type A1 and type V1, I am getting more detail about the differences. We might make some minor adjustment to the current kit pending testing.

Let me know if there are any interest. We can possibly bring these in with the current group buy of our suspension braces.

Pricing will be in the $1200 range or possibly lower pending on shipping method.

NOTE: I also notice there are problems with the spring, we plan to change out the spring, using either SWIFT or Hypercoil. Both company allow for custom spring rate.

Oh snap! Sometime in the next year probably. If my scholarship stays I will have a nice sum of money to spend.

We will probably bring one set over and test on a FX35 then try it out with different spring rate to get the best setup.

Anyone in NYC area want to participate ?

I may be willing to work with you on this on my fx, I've already done some suspension modifications & we'd have a good comparison to go from. I've had my suspension apart several times already so playing with this would be easy, & I still have all my stock arms & stuff... right now I've got over 2.5" suspension drop & it still rides & handles great, better than stock. if we can get the right spring rate it could be really good...

I see you are in brooklyn .. perfect. I will keep in touch with you. We will test the stock spring setup that comes with the coil over then we can go from there.

SWIFT has alot of different spring rate and we can offer them at any spring rate the customer request.

do you know of any facility that can measure our stock spring rate & a set of cut H&R's? of course were going to need to be stiffer than stock to ride at the lowered heights without bottoming but having a baseline & the ratio front to rear would be a big help to start with as a starting point...

we want enough springrate to avoid bottoming but not so much that it becomes a pogo stick type ride also... if a set of coilovers are going to be so stiff that it kills the ride then there isn't going to be so much demand for that... an H&R with about 3/4 coil cut in the front is about the right spring rate we would need for the front to ride pretty low but not bottom & not so stiff that the tire will skip over bumps & stuff... if I could send out a set of cut H&R's for measuring it would help a lot in dialing in a good spring rate for this... again, I already have pretty lowered with a great ride, if we can wind up with similar but adjustability to go a little lower even then we should be good...

the biggest problem with the stock front setup is that the spring seat has to sit over the tire & this is the limiting factor as to how low you can go, even with modified struts this is still the limiting factor, where that limit would not be a factor with coilovers...

That's awesome. I remember Rookie stating a set of coilovers didn't go low enough in the rear, not sure if it were the Apollos. I'm interested.

yeah, he said the rears didn't go low enough... the rears aren't even really coilovers on any of these setups, they use a seperate spring & shock, he needed to remove the whole rear spring adjuster seat & it still wasn't low enough for him though. this could be an issue as were going to need to dial in the right spring rate but the rears aren't using conventional coil over springs so swapping out this rate might be very difficult, the fronts are easy by comparison cause there regular coil over springs....

the fronts might be too low for some, this is a result not of the spring rate but the spring load, which are 2 different things.I think viet said even raised all the way the front was still very low... there is a difference between spring rate & spring load, we could add some load to the springs with a machined spacer ring to get a more reasonable height & range of adjustment for the front, the rear is going to be the problem though & is why I modified the suspension mounting points in the rear to begin with...

just a thought, but since this would take some developing anyway, why not start with a better set of HKS coilovers to begin with? or the RSR's that viet spoke of? makes sense to me that since it's going to take some development anyway, to at least start out with a better setup to begin with than the apollo's, just a thought...

i can contact hyper coil to see if they can measure the spring rate for us. They do have the spring dyno machine, which we are considering buying ...$10,000 just for the machine.

I could see HKS as a good setup to begin with .... but the problem here are pricing and sourcing the products.

We can source directly through Apollo manufacture, but we can't for HKS.

We will test the strut and also we will have to test the spring rate of the stock setup. I might need a set of stock spring to send to hypercoil for testing and see if they can recommend anything for us.

yeah, this is awesome...it's about time you guys,
im really interested.... and im also from ny area (long island) when you guys do the test let me know, i want to see it
