repainting is your only option, if you want to do 2 & match the other 2 your better off with a place like wheelsamerica or something, they have a place in LI, around $125 a wheel or so, I'd have a hard time matching the 2 to the other 2 originals..

Yeah, I found something similar happening to an rx-8. The previous owner painted the damaged rims, and as you know, repainted "anything" does not last as long as factory paint. So, you're probably seeing part of the original coat + damage when you used the wire brush - hence looking like it's coming off but getting worse at the same time. The cheapest alternative would be to do it yourself. You just need to buy 600, 1200, 2000 grit wet-sand paper, and sand the wheel down til you get a smooth surface, then spray paint it using wheel spray paint (most automotive places sell for like $6 a can which may do all four wheels). Make SURE you cover the other areas well to protect from overspray though. I did this on the rx-8 and it came out pretty good. I'll put up some pics later when I take them. It would be the cheapest...
