Missing Part?

Hello guys,

When i was changing the oil i noticed this part just hanging down, i went to the dealer the next day. Showed them the pictures on my phone, they said it might be there to reduce noise and vibration nothing to worry about. But then i was looking under the FX today and its GONE. I'm not sure why it was there or what to do? Should i go back to the dealer or its nothing? it's between the Y pipe. Please help me out guys before i turns into a big problem. :tears:Thanks guys.

I believe that might be a grounding cable. I recall that being brought up a long time ago
Some dealers dont know anything about their cars

it wasnt a cable, it was like a square metal piece hangin down. It was connected by a metal pin.

If this is the part it is a damper and nothing more...It helps with vibrations from the transmissin / transfer case

Some dealers know the cars...some customers dont want to listen because they know better

the only metal part that look like a square under my FX is a weight like square looking thing.. is that what are you talking about?

Isn't thar part there to help distribute the FX's weight?? Or for balance?

That's what I was talking about..( metal square weight looking thing) lol

Its called a damper --- Dynamic Dampers (Rubber Mounted Big Heavy Weight) act to cancel the vibrations of a certain object.

It lists for about $ 160.00(CAD) p # 11375-CG11B

Nothing that small, in the middle of a 2+ ton vehicle is going to really do anything.

I'm sure it does something otherwise Nissan wouldn't bother wasting money on tens of thousands of cars for no reason. A guy I work with that used to work for a major automobile manufacturer was telling me about how everybody got excited when they were able to cut the cost of producing a car by 10 cents (yes that's one dime or $0.10), or if they found a way to improve fuel economy by 0.1 miles per gallon.

It's probably a NVH thing so I doubt it'll damage your car if you don't replace it.

Well, someone already said it's a dampening device, so that helps even more in the not for weigh balance. A massed produced car cut by cents is alot if you think about cost over time.
