TB MOD how true...

Hey guys I was browsing thru eBay and I found this

I was reading the description of it at the bottom and it kind of make sence to my knowledge.. But since I'm not much of a mechanic I just wanted to asked you guys.. How true is this mod?? Would it work as well as they said it will?

Not sure on how true the gains are but you definitely don't need that expensive kit. I have mine bypassed with a simple brass connector.

Just get one of these
(Bottom, second from the right)


-Remove the intake
-Remove the throttle body
-Underneath the bottom of the plenum where the TB connects you will remove the 2 coolant lines.
-Connect the 2 lines together with the above connector
-Tighten the clamps
-Reinstall the TB and Intake.

(Even easier if your upper plenum is already off.)

I tought I understood when jeff explained it.. Then I saw Alan's link and kind of throw me off a bit... Eventually I'll figured it out..

Figured it out!! The fix that jeff gave me it's a good one if I lived in a warm weather emviroment.. Where my engine would be warm no matter what.. But since I live in a changing weather from hot to sh*t cold I guess my best solution would be to get a valve like the one in the motordyne link Alan posted. This way I'll be In control whenever the weather change from hot to cold or vice versa.. !!!

Jeff's way is to bypass the coolant to the TB completely, the MD way is to stop the flow on demand. I currently have the MD one and I have it closed.

Cool.. Think I will go with the MD one.. By any chance do you know how much that valve goes for? Or the kit to do it?

There is a kit for $50 but it includes stuff you don't need. Check on my350z.com, g35driver.com and ebay for used ones, and you should be able to find just the CCV at some point.

Ya, that's the thread I remember from Driver, because the guy has it backwards on how the thing works.

motordyne also has the copper iso-thermal spacer for the throttle body. I got that one only because of the weather here. Can be 60-70 degrees one day and then below freezing the next. For those in the warmer climates I would just bypass it all together or add a valve to be able to open or shut it off.

As for the horse power, I have a hard time believing 4-8 HP to the wheels

using the connector/coupling that fxlr8 posted above would be the eisiest way.
If you search i'm sure you could find a valve with the hose barbs on both ends if you want to be able to open and close it.
