Muffler delete

How about Borla exhaust?

hehe I bet you sell Borla.

I loved borla on my cobra. Looks and sounds awesome, but the FX version looks like shit in my opinion. It has an inner pipe inside the pipe so it looks like a cheapo from the rear. I can't believe they even considered doing that. That alone is a big turn off.

there are posts of videos of borla on the FX....I think it was like the muffler delete just a little toned down from what i remember, just looked like crap and another $1k+...no thanks. The ark still looks and sounds the best to me, but they don't have one for the FX50 and the price tag is not the greatest. I seriously might do the muffler delete I guess in the summer since there are so many custom exhaust shops by me....but I'm almost wanting to just do the cats first since I know that would be louder in itself and better, but don't know if there is a way to bypass the computer....can anyone find out for me?

Just cut the tips off and weld your own

I have a hard time doing that to an exhaust I would pay > $1k for.

Yeah, I do:)
Didn't know about the tip design flaws. Looks nice on the picture(stock) though

kind of like how the whopper doesn't exactly look just like this when I but one.

I've seen many pictures before the of the FX with borla exhaust, but now can't find one....

Nope but I was inside of it when he drove it through the parking lot. Just driving through a parking lot at 1100 rpm it protrudes through the cabin. I'm sure it's very loud in the cabin on the highway and street driving.

I'm sure he kept the cats on there.

No cat removal just the muffler. Its actually not loud at all on the highway. Kennys sounded just like mine does. It only realy sounds loud during acceleration from stop or a hard acceleration from low speed. Once the car is actual moving at decent speeds or coasting you dont hear it as much really. If I can I will post a video tomorrow. If you don't jump on the gas it doesn't sound too loud at all.

Maybe I should just cut the mufflers and the cats off lol

Does anyone know if you can get mil eliminators so that if you put very HFC cats on to get rid of the engine light?

neva4self, do you have pics of the underbody when you were at the shop? Would love to see how you did them. and how much did it run you just curious? Notice any performance increase from more freeflow?

I heard jdbaker had put the mufflers back on....I think I remember him saying that it was too much for him after awhile.

I didn't notice any major performance increases, I did it mainly for the sound. It cost me $130. I will post pics when I get in from work but they just pretty much removed the muffler at the first place it bolts to the exhausts pipes and then fabricated pipes that bolt to that same point and run back using the stock hanger points. If it wasnt for the fact that I had them use the stock tips (cut them off the muffler) the whole process would be reversible without any further fabrication. If I could do it again I would have bought some aftermarket tips, I saw a few subtle ones that I liked after the fact , this way when I get ready to upgrade I could just slap thestock muffler back on 123.

If I could do it again I would have used something similar to these tips.

This is the best I could do from my phone.

Have you considered doing anything with the cats?

I doubt I will mess with the cats. It sounds good now. Anything else I do would be a full exhaust, and since there isn't one that has been raved about for the 50, I'm good for now. Like I said IMO the sound is perfect with the muffler delete. I'm going to try and record some video from inside the car on the way home tommorrow. Everytime I plan to do an outside video, the weather ends up bad.

Muffler delete sounds just as nice as, if not more aggressive than, the borla you would be spending $1k v ~$350 tops for a delete job. Do it!

45 is different than the 50, sound will be much louder less the mufflers. Flowmaster's sound good (kind of hollow/throaty on the 45) but are a bit loud over time. The Nismo sounds very good and sacrifices no low end torque but it will require some fitment work.

You can get megan racing resonated test pipes and they will have the O2 sensor slots in them so you'll be good with the CEL. I always go with RESONATED test pipes because a complete cat delete is LOUD. I've had both resonated/non resonated on multipule cars and as cool as it sounds the first time you fire her up, you want resonators in there VERY shortly thereafter...

+1 I'm trying to tell them. It sounds good, not quiet but far from overkill. IMO it sounds like it should have from the factory considering the 2nd gens are pretty quiet compaired to 1st gens stock.

louder on the 45 than the 50?

Its the system set up, the 50 up to the mufflers is more controlled for sound. I haven't looked at the manifolds but the difference may start there. You delete the mufflers on a 45 and it's gonna get loud.....
