Help please. I hear a hissing noise.....

When i start the FX i hear a hissing noise similar to air being released from near the rear passenger side wheel. Any suggestions on what it might be? No fluid is leaking. Just air noise. The car drives normal. At start the air hissing noise is noticeable. It even pauses for a second & starts hissing again. I know it's not the exhaust. The tire is fine. Can't be the shocks (hope not). I'm stumped....

maybe the fuel pump? try putting your ear on the rear passenger side seat or try removing the seat.... I get a sound from the same area with my upgraded fuel pump.

Does sound like some sort of pump, I assume fuel pump is the only one back there?

Doh! It was the fuel cap. Was not tightened. Thanks!

No... Come to think of it that hissing noise is only when i start her up in the morning. I drove earlier today & i just went to check the noise. I still hear something but i'm guessing it is the fuel pump? But this time its not as noticeable & the pausing went away. I turned the fuel cap slightly to see if it was loose. It opened up but I'm not sure if it was tightened or if i untightened it. I didnt put any pressure in opening the fuel cap so i figured it might have been a bit loose. I will check tomorrow morning to see if the hissing starts again. But right now it's just a shallow constant hiss. Maybe i'm overreacting about the sound.

I have the same problem....intermittent hissing noises from the rear......so weird

Mine makes more of a Braaap noise but only when I take on low quality fuel.

I hear this hissing noise too on my 06 FX (same location). It comes on and off constantly. I'm wondering if it's normal?

I had the same problem. I brought it to dealer before. They say it is normal. :err:

Check the PCV hoses for cracks or leaks. Any vacuum/suction line that has a hole in it would hiss. I noticed a hiss after I installed an oil catch can. Found the leak and replaced the hose - hiss was gone.
