7 Speed Trans in 09 gets bad reviews everywhere it seems

Gameboy213, i believe that infiniti will definitely fix the issue by either reflash or do a recall or something. If you are not in a hurry of getting a new car, might want to wait for the 2010 model. By that time, 09 model will be cheaper(?) and 2010 may have the transmission bug fixed.

If the 2010 model have the bug fixed, there should be a reflash available for 09 model. If not, then maybe you should look elsewhere.

Wish I could. My lease ends this month.

Let me know what the dealer has to say after your second visit.
I took the car in for a second visit. No surprise that they said they ran all the tests and found everything to be "normal". They said they talked to the engineer from Infiniti and hinted that the engineer showed interest and might come out and do more tests. Not holding my breath.

Thanks for the update. I'm definitely going to follow up with my service advisor about the tranny reflash. Maybe if enough people continue to voice their dislike of the tranny, Infiniti will speed up the process for a fix.

That is frustrating! I had heard on the Org that the flash was supposed to be coming in July or Aug, and we are in July..... I would think the service guys know about it.

I test drove again yesterday and didn't feel it much at all on one that just came off the boat... so maybe it is already being reflashed. They did give me the whole 'it learns how you drive thing' which is supposedly true. They say if you drive soft usually and then hammer it, the trans will possibly delay. Just like if are heavy on the gas, the throttle will become more touchy for you and responsive. Could just be BS. They say it takes around 60 seconds for the car to Adapt to the driver.

Thoughts? Experiences?

I found downshifting with the paddles solved it very quickly and the car was very responsive. And DS mode seemed to help a lot as well in previous test drives where the lag was present.

I have put 5,000 miles on mine and the car has not "learned" my driving style yet.

Interesting. Well my lease ends in two days, and I need to decide what to do. Looks like I might extend my current lease and not deal with this issue.

Anybody NOT having the issue with the Trans?

As I said earlier, I'm not having any problems yet, I'm lovin my 7spd. Working good for me.

I bet it does actually. Do you drive it hard?
I don't think I do, of course once in a while I go through the gears to redline (within reason since you get beyond the speed limit so quickly. I do like to push it through the turns etc., thats where the paddle shifters are nice.

Gotcha. I hope, if I decide to sign tomorrow, I get a 'good' trans! haha

I think the newer cars feel better right now. The last one I drove was fine and it just got off the boat.

Not yet ?

Gameboy: You still haven't gotten the new FX? You are deliberating too much over a barely noticeable transmission design item. Really, once you drive the 2009 FX, you won't remember the previous model. Go for it already, dude! Join the club.

hahahaha No that isn't why I have held off. I've been waiting for a car. It's getting here in a week.

Blue Slate/Graphite AWD nav, lux, prem,

Just have have time to kill until it's here! ha

And I am a tad concerned about the trans issue... although the last one I drove didn't seem to have any lag at all.

Just saw this on the Org. Flash has been released.

ITB09-032

An Applied Vehicle has a harsh 4-3 downshift while coasting at 30-20MPH, with closed throttle condition.
• Engine braking may also be felt under the same driving conditions.

Gameboy thanks for the update! I'll be calling my service rep soon to inquire about the reflash and set up an appointment to get this done.

Good luck with leasing your new FX!

I just made an appointment for this Saturday. I'm out of town this weekend, so my wife is taking the car to the dealer but I'll post a review when she picks me up from the airport on Sunday.

Great news. Thanks.

Do you have a link for the release from Infiniti?
