Stillen AP Racing 4 Piston on Sale $1,706.18

I know it's bad form to resurrect an old thread but I thought it might be better than starting a new one about the same thing. The Stillen 4 piston kit is now down to $1611 with the 2 piece rotors. Has anyone had any experience with this kit on the FX? Is it any good? At that price I'm inclined to give it a try but I read on the G35 forum that there were some rusting issues with the hardware.

The 4 piston front kit is a 1piece rotor, I had this kt and warped the front rotors more than once.

I say go for it. I have the AP Racing (put together by Brake Pros, division of Stillen) 6 piston front and 4 piston rear.

Don't worry about the rusting issues with the hardware. Mine have seen Chicago winters and no issues. Some surface rust did appear on an exposed metal piece, but came off easily after washing the car. Like I said, surface rust. Most of the bolts are painted anyways (came like that).

AP makes quality calipers and rotors from England (correct me if I'm wrong). My rear rotor though is made from DBA (Australian).

This happened to someone else too. The member though told me he drove his car hard.

Did you heat up the brakes more than a "typical" driver? =)

Either way, pixel8 -- call Stillen, ask for Charlie and tell him what is the price difference if you can upgrade to the two piece rotor.

It's available, you just need to ask. Go for cross-drilled / slotted if you can. I know they make a 2 piece slotted only 13" rotor for the kit.

It might be "cheaper" in the long run, as you only need to replace the rotor in the future and not the hat.

DOH!. Sorry about that. Evidently I can't read very well. I guess if it seems to good to be true it usually is.

$1,600 and some change is really good for a FX35/FX45 car specific big brake kit, especially a "name-brand" like AP Racing. This is in the price range of KSport. I'd get this over Ksport or OEM FX50S Akebono big brake kit.

2 piece rotor price difference will probably be 6-800.

Stillen looked at my rotors and said I overheated them. I was like no shit. lol, they put paint on the edges of the rotor to indicate heat levels or something.

Thanks as always for the detailed advice, it's much appreciated. Up until now I was all ready to pull the trigger on an Akebono FX50 kit. I would prefer a 14" disc in the front, which is the only thing that makes me hesitate on the AP kit.

Unless the FI Fairy leaves something under my pillow I think I'm safe when it comes to warping the rotors. Man, I WISH my FX was fast enough to warp rotors...
