E85 conversion for FX

The conversion itself shouldn't give you any increase in performance. E85 is just like running higher octane fuel. If you read closer, all those WRX guys running E85 have a special tune for it and likely run more boost on it.
 
STi and Evo guys switch to E85 with big power gains with special tune. I'm sure if you tune your car and change out some fuel components you can get some gains too. It is not suggested to mix

Right and wrong.

Evo guys get a huge bump in torque and a considerable bump in power, but that is due to being able to run more aggressive timing and more boost without worrying about knock. As already mentioned, E85 is almost equivalent to race gas in terms of octane.

On an FX, it won't do much at all. Even with a custom tune for it, E85 is more of a benefit to turbocharged cars than naturally aspirated any day.

You'll be lowering your fuel economy and your miles-per-tank drastically, along with running rough or different between summer and winter blend differences and possible cold-start issues in the winter in colder areas.

If E85 stations were more common my Evo would be sipping on them by now :laugh: but its a bit late now. Its true the FX won't see as much gain as the Evo/STi but you also can't deny that there won't be any gains which was what I meant.

Oh yeah, but I was just trying to emphasize how little you'd get out of it... pretty pointless unless you like the smell of the burnt E85 over regular gas, it's more available than regular gas in your area (like Brazil, for instance) or you have political motivation (tired of funding Dubai's massive expansions).

It'd be awesome to see an E85 conversion on a supercharged or turbo/twin-turbo'd FX35 though :tonguey:
