Debadging?

Hey guys and gals,
What's the easiest and best way to take the emblems off without hurting the paint? What tools to use? Has anyone heard of any problems while trying to debadge?

Debadged the, "35" last weekend, using dental floss and WD40 for the stuck-on adhesive, from reading this thread. Had to work at the adhesive for a few minutes. Wiped it clean with a microfiber cloth, then polished the area.

There is a very slight shadow immediately around where the badge was removed, where I could never quite clean out. Almost like a stain, maybe from 94,000 miles of punishment. But you can only see it very close up and I'll concentrate on the area for future washes and polishes. I wouldn't be surprised if it completely dissapears. Might end up getting rid of the FX at some point down the road.

Also, you could totally put them back on with a little 3M mounting tape. Taking them off doesn't damage the chrome plating at all.

I'm totally glad I did it. Love it.

Goo Be Gone did wonders when I debadged mine. I blow dried the area for a bit and took a credit card to take the badge off. The left over glue was taken care of with 1 application of Goo Be Gone. That stuff works wonders.

You already know I dig your ride, but how 'bout some bat overlays on reverse & reflectors? Also lose the rest of the badge. Makes a bit tougher looking w/ some tints.

Rear Mazzur wing would look sick too w/ red FX

I would love some tints, you know where I can get em done?

Has anyone besides jumbo had problems with a little fading or shadow around the area after debadging? Should I have to worry about this since my car is almost 5 years old? I have heard people say that the paint tone might be a little different after debadging a car that is a couple years old.

That shadow that was present back when I de-badged is now long gone - clay bar and a professional detail totally eliminated the shadow - paint looks perfect where the "35" used to be.

cool, thanks!
