Morning everyone. So first time posting Im a 27 year old female and love my FX35. I am having a problem tho.

Last week I was pulling into the house and I heard a pop in the front of my FX. I go inside and think nothing of it. I come back out to start truck and it's dead. NO JUICE so I open up the hood and check battery and sure enough the entire cable was off the battery. (NO CLUE how it happened but it did) SO up until this happened I did not have 1 problem with my truck. Now when I go to start it up I would say 1 out of every 3 times the car will start and then die (unless I just ever slightly tap the gas) it's not running rough or any other problem it's just really annoying and I want to find out how to fix and if it was something that happened with the battery.

I had my battery terminal cleaned and re-attached it and it's still doing the same thing. Can someone help me out, the warranty JUST ran out and I dont want to spend a fortune on a easy fix. (I just keep thinking it HAS to have something to do with the battery) PLEASE HELP IM CLUELESS...

Just spoke to the service manager at Infiniti (one I have dealt with for over 7 years) he said that the computer idle needs to be reset and that the battery coming undone could have messed it up.

Now my question is (Dont want to let him know I'm being cheap) but can you reset the computer by taking the battery cable off overnight??? (I have read this in other forums)

The answer to your question is YES! or you can try the pedal reset route but hard to time. The battery way is the easiest. Also, I would have the battery checked out to see if you have a weak battery and possibly have the throttle body cleaned. There are some threads here covering both topics.

Thank you! And yes I do need a new battery the dealer told me over the winter (sometimes it would slow crank when it got too cold) Does that make any difference? I know I need a new battery so should I just try and change it all together?

dirty throttle body would be my first guess of the start/stall situation too... especially if all else seems normal... seems to me that when the terminal popped off & it sat overnight like that the ecu probably reset at that point anyway...

Nope only sat for about 2 hours...I will look into all the advice I've been given.

Change the battery and see how it goes after that. What rpm does the FX idle at after running for a while? It should be around 650.

joeyma8,

did you end up getting this issue resolved? i'm having the same issue.

if you did get it resolved, what was the solution?

thanks in advance.

Throttle body and/or air filter. Friend of mines throttle body was very dirty which caused it to stall, and it would not start, but also air filter can could also be the culprit. I have a fairly new battery, but maybe a few weeks back every 1 out of 3 times I would attempt to start...nothing, and on other attemps it would not catch until I pumped the gas a little. Long story short, bought a new air filter and no further problems. Turn key....vrooom.

I went thru the TB problem.. Cleaned and problem solved. How many miles on your FX? If it's higher than 40k it would be good to clean it since you are having this problem.. New air filter and make sure your battery is good. Give those 3 tips a try and let me know how it goes!

Good luck!!

Toncruse - i don't think you are having the same issue as joeyma8 and i. it sounds like your fx would not start at all - is this right?

Rubare - were you having the same issues? meaning car starts fine but rpm dips and car dies?

thank you to both for your input

Yes my car started and ran ok but while driving it just die.. I cleaned the TB changed the filter and it's working perfectly fine since then.

Also Tony's fx would start sometimes and sometimes it would not.. It happened at the meet while I was there and it sounded like there was air restriction that's why it didn't want to start. So I suggested for him to press on the gas while he was trying to turn it on and it worked.. I also told him to get a new filter and since then his FX being working fine.. So in his case it was a dirty air filter..

But as I mentioned before, if your FX have over 40+k just clean the TB and change your filter..
