Hi guys, I'm a new guy from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I found this forum while looking for what DIYs and technical information was available on my new car.
One week ago I traded a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T quattro for my 2005 FX35 awd with only 56k miles. I miss the agility of the A4 (stiffer suspension and smaller size, very easy to move around in traffic), and the sound of the stereo.
The thing I don't like in the FX is that the door speakers are at my feet, I barely hear them (they do work properly); thus even so speakers are better, most of the sound seems to come from in front and I loose the spacialisation/the scene of the sound (being a headphone lover, I like having a large sound scene). I would love to have a setting somewhere to choose the level per speaker pair.
Still on sound... the engine sound! It sounds so gorgeous, I wish I could hear it more from inside the car.
Apart from that, the V6 pushes far much more than the A4 1.8T. Now that I'm getting used to its size, I love how the FX gets out of slow traffic.
Engine is better, transmission is better (less laggy + having more torque at low rpms helps), the ride is more comfortable (softer suspension, well appreciated in Montreal nasty roads with holes here and there), the interior is better equipped (but the touch of the plastics on the wheel and on the dash was better in the A4, slightly softer). And the look of the car is more modern and nicer.
