Sometimes you begin with something and halfway true you think what have i put myself into……again…?! :err:

This is just 1 of these things. There are a several side blinker versions available for our FX mirrors, but I personally found them a bit too big for my taste.

Once I saw the blinkers from the new Audi line-up I knew right away that was the version I liked. Smooth and with a dark color so they won’t stand out compared to the black color.
And for 25,- Euro ( 30 Dollar ) each it was worth trying IMO.

At first I thought it was an easy fit. Just cut out the shape and might not even need to repaint when done right. The led when held under the mirror had 98% the same shape, but thing was that the housing of the blinker was hitting the mirror cap at certain points due to the rounded shape of the mirror.
This meant that I had to mount them not flat on, but in a different angle witch didn’t made the fitment easier.
Final to make it happen we ( me and my buddy’s) had to polyester the mirror caps not only to make a perfect fit but also as the glass runs a bit inwards and otherwise you could see true the gap.
We make the lower side thicker and rounded it in so it looked sort of OEM and not with an 90 degree angle.

In the end I’m again very happy with the result hope you all like it.

P.s: Honestly haven't connected them yet so no "working"pics yet

FaudiX35? :tonguey: VERY nice Ray! I really like those Audi mirrors. So you had to fill it up a bit at the bottom of the mirror cap right? Sounds like an easy thing for TurboCad to do.. :.smile: John, how's your Audi parts contacts?

Haha thanks guys..!! Ege i can't seem to keep my former brand out of my head......blinkers.....seats.....antenna.... now i have best of both...!!

Off course john can do this without a doubt. It isn't that big of a deal of you can work with polyester....i can't myself but have friends who help me out a lot.
But at first i thought it was just some cutting and maybe painting....was wrong on that though :err:

really nice... is it me or does audi have all the lightworks on lock?

What do you mean with on lock...??

looks great ray, would love to see it in action!

Hey Soon...!! Yeah me too, will post picks when they do buddy..!! I integrated them a bit more the Audi does so gues you won't see them that well from behind as the Mercedes versions do and others, but we'll see

looks awesome ray. were you able to keep the rear facing really bright led visable from behind? I looked at the audi's & considered doing them too, but I was concerned about being able to keep the rear facing led visable, some audi's have that inside the mirror instead of outside cause they sit so flush... & yeah, it's really hard to just get a clean enough cut that you can just stick the light in without bodywork & paint, molding to the edges & repainting is the best way... looks great...

I guess he meant Audi has the majority of cool "stock" lightworks. I'm not a native speaker as well so correct me if wrong..

Ohhh like that haha sorry guys, and true i don't always understand certain saying but do my best  But indeed audi has some great lights at the moment....new audi A4...R8....great looking..!!

Thanks John...!! The light is only lit by one LED wich runs light true the whole thing. It is massive as i at first thought it was hollow or such. We had to heaten the thing and bend / play we it a bit to get a 100% perfect shape due to the new angle.
As i see on other lights they run a bit out the mirror on the ends so you see them from behind. I think you can do this with these as well....it's just how you place them. I choose to integrate them as that was more of my liking.

Here some pics from the inside of the mirror. Quit hard to make due to the small gap.

Also i need to put some tape or silicone on the inside just for the estatic look to clean it up.

The light wich you now see inside is mostly from the light coming true the blinker. We had to take the black molding of from the back for clearance.

You can see on the second pick how we rounded the cap toworths the blinker. I must saw in reality it doesn't look that beefy as on the picture though.
