water in TailLights

man bought a set of Sport Tails from ebay
like a couple months ago and everythign was fine
until today i noticed water residue/ foggieness going on in the back right one

is there anyways i can make sure this doesnt happen again and any ways to be able to clean it or even dry it out without baking it in the oven and stuff?
 
It's natural. Mine do it. There is even a TSB about it, saying that it happens sometimes. Unless you are getting it alot or a large buildup, I wouldn't worry.
 
I think the only way is to bake it than reseal it. on my previous car one of my headlight has constant fogging up after a fender bender and the body shop told me the impact probably losen the seal and the guys that fix the bumper up either didn't see it or didn't care.
 
tails are not held together with any kind of sealant, the oven won't do anything, they are plastic welded together. Not really sure what you can do other than making sure the bulbs are seated correctly and/or looking for any kind of possible crack.
 
The tails shouldn't take in any water unless there's a crack
 
its the LED one not the reverse area

it is has little fog and im worreid if it rains so much it will start to build water in it

Yes, but there is still a bulb in the outer lights and a cover behind the leds. ///4675
 
it was in the sun today for awhile cuase was at cerritos mall and was sitting there

but didnt notice it until i got home and was taking out the stroller i was liek WTF
 
liek 2 nights ago it rained a little here in so cal where i live at

but not heavy at all
and just today i found it like that so ionno man
 
Probably defective or something. I never get moisture in my tail lights. I'm pretty sure this isn't normal.

Yes, it is normal. I have made two posts so far saying that it is, and giving proof.

Well, I notice this happening after I wash my car in direct sunlight, because the heat basically makes it fog up in there when the cold water runs across it.

mines are ok, no moisture. they are original and never been taken out.


some of the moisture problems could be related to the oring on the bulb socket. I would recommend putting some oil to make them less likely to crack and seal better
 
He's right! I've actually witnessed a many fx's on Infiniti dealerships and noticed the water in the rear lenses... and there def not glued...:err:

condensation happens with quick temperature changes. cool against warm will cause the moisture in the air to condense to droplets. if it's cool out when the lights come on the heat from the lights can cause condensation, same thing when you wash a car in the sun & cool the lense quickly with water, same thing when you take a cold drink out of the fridge & leave it on the table on a warm day, same thing like morning dew at sunrise. the moisture in the light from condensation is coming from the air inside the light, it's not water leaking into the light.

I believe I said something to this degree back when this thread was made. I don't remember exactly though. :smile:
