Another Blown Eibach Spring

I've already ordered the bearing from InfinitiPartsUSA.com and as soon as I receive it, I will bring it to JT Motoring and have it installed.

I personally think that the previous installer didn't install the bearing and I have been driving all this time without it and was never told. They are now no longer in business just to let you know.

I've already put over 100 miles on the H&R's and so far no problems.
When I left the shop, I did hear a slight noise from the lack of the bearing, but once I had the car washed...no more noise.
I have not experience any lack of steering so far and just as responsive as before, but due to my situation without the bearing...I just might be used to it.

My comparison with the Eibach's & the H&R's.

The Eibach's were more responsive and sporty feeling, but was a bit harsher going over uneven surfaces. They seem to be a tad lower, but H&R's might need to settle a little too.
I can't say which set I like better until I drive more with the H&R's...plus roads here in Boston during the winter are not ideal.

I'll be shipping the defective Eibach's back to TireRack tonight and wait for an update from them regarding Eibach's research on their conclusion of what is causing this issue/problem with their springs.

uhh ohh i just ordered some eibachs a couple days after the new year but havent pulled the trigger on the install yet...should i? :eek.::eek.:

Depends on how easily you can return/exchange them. There are two spring options. Both carry similar price tags, offer similar performance, and similar drops. One might snap in half and one definitely won't. If it's convenient for you to swap them for H&R's, do it. If not and you don't mind the risk, then install them. The fact is that the percentage of people who have Eibachs and experience these problems is still pretty small.

I wouldn't hesitate to have yours installed.

The only condition not to install them and swap them for the H&R's is that you reside in Chicago where the winter weather might have the same effect as I do here in Boston, MA.
It was over 3 years on either set of Eibach's before they snapped, so enjoy them when you can.

I got a call from the dealer I traded my FX35 into and guess what?
They put it up on the lift and my front right spring snapped and flew out of the wheel well....... If I hadn't traded the car in It would have snapped on my drive to school (3 hours) most likely.....great.

Damn eibachs... I guess they really only do last about 3 years....then SNAP.

This is why I'm waiting on coils for the FX50.... :tdown:

I am now part of the EI-blow group..... anti-eibach....etc.... :tdown:
 
I was leary getting them, but it only seems to happen to guys who drive in areas where they use salt on the roads. I had my FX coated underneath with a product called Rust Check Coat and Protect. When I removed my OEM springs a couple of days ago they were totally protected with this film and it took a good wash in degreaser to clean them.
Therefore I'm hoping this problem will be eliminated since I am coating my new Eibachs with the same treatment. Fingers crossed.

thats exactly what it was; rust. I am thinking about getting my FX50 undercoated as well.

Jordan in our areas I think it is a good idea to at least get the undersides sprayed. I only did the underside of my FX with the Coat and Protect by Rust Check. On a couple of vehicles that I kept for as long as 16 years , I got the total Rust Check treatment and there were no signs of rust.
