Fuel system/filter

I was just wondering we change most of the filters in our car in the 3000-7000 miles range.. But I have never change or heard of any maintance by the dealer that take care of the fuel filter.. So my question is have anyone here changed or know how to change the fuel filter? What are the upgrades without crazy prices that we can do to the fuel system?

Thank you all!
Jonathan.

Is the fuel filter on the fuel pump in the tank, like on the G35's?

Good question, hopefully someone will let us know I being wanting to replace it, plus trying to find out about good aftermarket parts to make the fuel system perform better.

This will be your assignment Rubare....do some homework and let us know:tup:

Looks like the G35 fuel bucket. That's good to know.

It's taller than the G35 basket, same overall shape and stuff just taller since the FX holds more fuel.

The filters do get dirty, when you pull the basket out you can see the chamber from the outside, the darker the chamber the dirtier the filter.

Nice.. Hey Rookie.. I want to do this my self.. I have taken my FX to the dealership couple of time, and they swear they cleaned and changed the filter.. But I don't believe them cause they also told me that they cleaned the TB and when I looked at it it was dirty..

Correct me if I'm wrong. But the tank is located under the rear seat right? And what kind of tools do I need to remove the filter, is there any specific way. Just making sure before I do this.. Thank you much for all your help..

Since you are so determined on doing this, follow page 12. Do not bend the float arm or your fuel levels will read wrong.....

(This should help you locate and remove the assembly-It's the same for the FX because I have changed my pump before)

Also make sure you can order the filter first. This is not your typical canister fuel filter, the filter on the fx is more of a filter bag that connects to the inlet of the pump.

Thank you Jeff.. I'll let you guys know how it goes..

I'm looking around.. But by any chance, do you guys know of any performance fuel filters?

So fuel filters are maintenance free, yet the filters do still exist and they do get dirty and can be replaced? I don't quite understand.

The service life of the filter is longer than that of the pump, (just before the filter is fully clogged, the pump fails) and you replace both when you replace the pump. Ergo, you have a "lifetime" filter.

Bring back a super old thread since its related, I was doing some searching on this site and cant seem to find the answer, who is the OEM manufacturer for our fuel pumps? is it Hitachi or Bosch? Or is the 35 one and the 45 is the other?
