200 mile/tank, is that normal ?

I can't drive more than 200 mile/tank, is that normal ? 2005 FX 35 ? Please help me, fule is 2,00 USD/liter in my country.
Why do you think my FX consumes so much fuel ? where is the problem ?
 
I have a 05 fx35 and normally get ~300 mile a tank and on long road trips I have logged ~400 miles.


do you know what the computer shows as the MPG?

maybe you need a tune up (spark plugs, dirt air filter, ecu reset etc)
 
I can get ~240-265 with mixed city/hwy driving on a full tank. If I go straight hwy it would be over 300. With that said you're either heavy on the gas pedal or something is wrong with your car.... such as bad filter, bad sensor, burning rich...etc..etc.

Hi there.. i was having the same problem.. yes you might need a tune up.. but also your fuel injector and fuel system might be dirty.. i will recommend for you to use a fuel injector cleaner and also a fuel system cleaner too.. best one out there that i know of, because they worked when i used them were Lucas and STP.. use it when ever you fill your tank at least 1-2 months.. you should be feeling and seeing the results...
 
Seems really low. I do mostly freeway driving, but can get up to 350-360 miles/tank. If my foot is feeling a little lighter that week, I might get up to 370+

Are you actually getting 200mi per fill up or are you going by the on dash readout?
If you are going by the in dash readout you may want to keep a fuel log to get actual MPG that way you will be eliminating the fuel sensors as a problem.
If your fuel milage is correct you most probably need a fuel system tune up.
Blocked cats can cause poor fuel consumption as well.Have you noticed a loss of power ?
 
i've gotten as low as ~250 miles on a tank while driving like an @$$ mainly in the city. I also gotten up to 400 miles driving all highway with cruise set to ~70mph. I would definitely say you are low.
 
I have a 05 FX and get around 280 or so with strictly City driving...when on the road I can get almost 400...
 
I think something is wrong. Are you racing every time you have an opportunity? I can get over 400 miles strictly on highway driving and 300ish miles with mixed driving.

If you're driving in Istanbul's traffic...even 200 is a good number since traffic over there is mostly stop...idle...and don't go :laugh:.

Do you reset your mpg after every fill up ? Like suggested above, if trip also tells you that you only get 200 miles a tank, than you might want to get it checked. As hard as I drive, I still get about 17/18 mpg.

That is really low....take your car into a dealership. If your only getting 200 miles a tank...that means your getting 9mpg! Are you sure you have an FX or a Hummer?

Just drove from Los Angeles to Colton today ( 150 miles round trip ) and only went through 1/4 a tank = 24.4mpg at 75-80mph. My city is usually around 15-16mpg, which would be around 350 miles.
