Stillen Front License Plate Bracket for 05 FX35

I've read in some posts that the Stillen plate bracket does indeed "work" for the 05 FX35? Anyone have it and is the "shaft" long enough to fit the front tow hook mounting hole? (hold the jokes ) Thanks! great forum. learning a lot about the FX35. Thanks for all the info!
 
I think EG3 had it on his FX. He will probably chime in when he see's this. He can clarify this for you.

The bracket has two parts, the bar that mounts on the front tow hook and the license plate bracket that mounts to the bar. You'll have to get the 24mm thread bar since the g35 ones will be too small. I believe I went with the 5 7/8" length one but not sure and can't measure it now as I'm in Turkey.. If you want to wait out until Sunday I can probably measure it and post some pics as well.. The whole thing only goes on my car when I go for the emissions inspection. I don't use any plate in the front other than that time..
 
Thanks for the quick reply EG3! I think you're right, it may be the 24mm (or 22mm?!?), 5 7/8" thread bar but will wait for confirmation and pics from you. Again, thanks for the assist, as i see in this site, many and all are helpful.

It's definitely 24mm, not 22mm. I got an e-mail from stillen to confirm it but can't find what length bar did I order from them.. You can easily measure that yourself. Just take a measure from the front hitch location to the tip of the front bumper. They have some various lengths available so if it's not 5 7/8", you'll have to call them to order..

Thanks for the info. I need to pick one up too.

EG3...saw in your signature you have a mod-friendly GF....If you're not talking about the car then I'm very jealous.. It's only been a few weeks since I bought my FX and my GF is already giving me a hard time about buying stuff every week.... and I'm just getting warmed up too! :err:
 
My gf is actually encouraged after my mod stuff and even wants to replace the exhaust on her leased Touareg.. That's when I said I made the right choice :.smile:

I say don't start spending heavily right away.. It's hard I know but it's always better to spread it over some time. Otherwise, you'll start spending on even more expensive stuff or stuff that won't do anything much..
 
I don't the 24mm is the correct one for my 2004 FX. I just bought one without checking the tow hook in the trunk and it's way too big.... stupid of me....

I measured my tow hook in the trunk with the diagram on Stillen's site and it's showing that the thread is 16mm. I measured the length of the hook for the bracket and it looks like it 5 7/8 is the right size....

Are the tow hooks different sizes depending on the year of our FX?

Thank you EG3 for that very helpful post. Anyway, paperchasin, what's the $75-worth thing that you're talking about? Is it the plate bracket? Because I just saw one with only $25 on it...
