Hey Guys,

How much are you guys paying for your 30k maintenance service? I looked at the list of stuff they do for 30k and I can honestly say that I only want like 5 things done from the list. Are dealerships willing to go down on price if I only want select services?

I've emailed Cheryl at Metro Infiniti to get her thoughts on this. I just want some feedback from you guys.

Thanks in advance.

I had LMS do it back in 2007 and labor was $344 but from what people are telling me prices have gone up since then.

whoa $500 is a lot for 30K.

I was thinking about LMS if prices are too steep at the dealership. I've also sent couple of emails to Nissan dealerships since they do the same thing. Let's see what the response is tomorrow if they decide to respond.

I think these are the only things I really need.

2) Replace automatic transmission fluid
3) Replace differential oil (if applied)
4) Replace engine coolant/flush system
5) Replace engine drive belts

Out of the list I can see only 2 and 3 that would require dealership help. The rest you can do yourself no?

The rest of the stuff offered by the stealership is total bs ...

I paid 650.00 for 60K service. It would have been 575.00 but I had the oil changed with synthetic oil and the cabin filter changed to activated carbon type filter these items cost extra. I beleive the 30K is the same as the 60K.They flushed the trans, changed the eng oil, checked the belts, checked the diffs, checked the transfer case oil, changed the cabin filter, checked the brakes. They said the diff and transfer case oil looked good. To have the diff and transfer case oil changed would be around an aadditional 300.00.

Well I know they won't change my air filter. Can't wait to see if they still charge me, or if they throw it out. One guy I talked to with a Z said his clutch was replaced with OEM and they threw his out and denied it all. But ya, alot of that you can do yourself.

No response from the dealership. I'm going to take the vehicle to my local mechanic to take care of the transmission, coolant, and drive belt. I don't think I want to pay $500 or $650 for bunch of inspection. That's insanity.

Mongolian,

Are you following the Premium maintenance?

I usually follow the Schedule 1 maintenance. For 30K maintenance you can do it yourself. Just change the oil, cabin and air filter. I use amsoil synthetic for the oil and I bought the carbon cabin air filter in ebay. Total cost less than $70

I'm not concerned with the oil change and cabin filter. I do this regularly.

I honestly don't know what I'm looking at. I followed a link to a infiniti website's maintenance schedule. It says I need to flush coolant, change engine drive belts, and change transmission fluid. These are the 3 things I would not trust myself to do.... I probably need to have someone do the differential fluid thing too. How frequently do you need to change differential fluid. I don't tow or haul anything with my FX. There are other things on the list that Z33 mentioned I don't really need or doesn't apply to me.

How often should I change spark plugs?

Downey Nissan quoted me $300 for a 30K.

It would be less because I already changed my cabin filter, have a K&N, and I changed my belts myself.

Belts can be bought at Autozone for approx $25/dealer $50-75. You can do the change yourself in less than an hour. Uses a 12mm on the tensioner screw and a 14mm on the pulley nut. 10mm to get the skidplate off. Very Easy to do

Cabin filter, autozone $20/dealer $35, takes you less than 20 minutes and that's if you never taken apart the lower part of your dash before and are being extremely careful. Very easy to do

Only things left to do are the coolant, tranny, and replace the air filter.

I think I'm going to take care of the belts myself after reading some DIY. It does not sound too difficult. I will just have my local shop do the tranny and coolant flush. Looks like all I need to provide them is the J-matic fluid which I can buy online for 7 bucks per quart...

My car is going on hibernation as soon as my in-law go back home to Taiwan (this weekend) and I can get my other car back. I'm going to buy Samco radiator hoses before I do the coolant flush.

From what I read on the service manual for transmission fluid change, I think I need 10-11 quarts? Or am I way off?
