What to do?

I found out today that my order for my 09 Audi S5 will be delayed a further 2 months due to "unforeseen manufacturing changes" apparently. So instead of Feb we are looking at April/May. I am strongly thinking of canceling on Saturday.

So with that said, should I choose:

Option 1: Buy a new GTR
I can get a white or black one at MSRP. Always wanted one. Sick performance. I love the muscular design except for those ridiculous oversized quad pipes. Great year-round performance car for snow and rain as the car will be spending a lot of time in the Rockies. Not a fan of driving a sequential and would prefer a 6spd. Early tranny/gearbox issues have me a little concerned. Price has increased an extra 14K over the S5.

Option 2: Buy a new 370Z and a new FJ Cruiser 4x4
This option is appealing because I get 2 new cars for less than the cost of the GTR (actually probably around $50-55K for both.) I miss my 350Z and I love the new 370Z, it offers me a true 6spd, better design both in and out, with good performance, a good community and Nissan reliability. And I have always wanted a FJ Cruiser. The FJ would be kept at my house in Colorado and would be used solely as a mountain goat for all the snow, snowboarding, biking, backcountry trips, and offroading. Plus it will haul my dogs in safety. And the aftermarket options are just amazing!! Plus the FJ has a big Colorado based club also.

Option 3: Be patient and sit tight for the 09 S5

I'm leaning towards 1 or 2 right now. Any opinions or advice?????

option 1 would be awesome, but option 2 seems like a great alternative. either way, you would have a nice car with the GTR or 370Z.

I'd probably take the GTR. It's like an awesome 370Z, and I don't really like the FJ.

Practicality = 370z and FJ
Be damned with practicality = Godzilla

The choice just comes down to what you need/want the most right now. Either way you can't loose =)

I'd go with option 1 + a cheapo 4wd japenese SUV (old QX4, land cruiser, xterra). Old SUV's you can beat up and you don't care and have good 4wd systems.

If you're looking at European cars, what about just a fast SUV that can haul in snow (Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Benz G55, Range Rover Super Charged). I just think the S5 is way over priced, and bang for buck if you're into audi's are the used S8's, RS4's and RS6's right now. But it looks like you're into 2 door sports cars.

Going outside your options --- I'd get an old Porsche C4 or turbo AWD and my wife a Porsche Cayenne Turbo to match=) I'm just used to not paying for anything outside of regular maintenance (or mods...) so I stick with my FX.

I appreciate all the comments and opinions guys. I'm going to sit on it for a few days and make a decision next week I think.

get an ML63, those come in AWD?

The FX is staying. I don't need another performance based SUV. The FJ appeals to me for the off-roading aspect/rugged capabilities. I've missed a rugged truck since selling my Pathfinder.

my son in law just bought a Porsche 911 Turbo and holy crap... that thing is incredible. it has the the Ceramic Composite brakes or whatever they are, and that Porsche brakes on a dime. If you have the money go for that. i love the Gtr but would rather have a 911 Turbo.

Amen. My perfect car. I would love one but can't afford it.

FYI, yes 370Z aftermarket options WILL be good but it's not as of right now and I don't think there'll be a lot of options in a year or so.. G37 stuff won't properly fit because 370Z is significantly shorter.. That said, it looks like you won't be holding a 370Z for more than a year if you buy it anyways sooo get a GODZILLA! :.smile:

best option IMHO........impulse buying can lead to bad choices.
Just let all the emotions cool down and then make a "Smart" choice bro.

Technically the GTR is a Dual Clutch gearbox. I don't know if you can shift 4 to 2 directly but if you tap it twice it should shift faster than a person with a regular gearbox.
I would go with the GTR seeing as your first choice is a coupe and the GTR is one too.
The 370z is nice but then again, it is not in the same level of performance and impression. Plus, everyone will have a 370z.
PS, BUY BLACK. I don't understand how some the guys love silver.
