The roughest off-road terrain you have cleared with your FX

A bit of sand, and I regularly jump a curb to park at my office (the parking is horrible, sometimes the only "spot" is in the grass over a curb). The sporty characteristics is not exactly suitable for anything off road, I can hear the suspension moaning and groaning when I park in another part of the grass that has a slight ditch the front wheels go into (causes the right rear suspension to unload).

i'm gonna say my alley, it is unforgiving. and i only live 5 houses down. its like they never repave it, just patch it. garbage trucks dont help either.

No car is meant to be driven that rough, it's quite obvious that would happen to the rear right tire, the FX isn't made for offroading, even on pavement the ride is stiff which makes for great handling.

Hey guys...I'm new here...hello.

I went over a speed bump once...lol
Actually, I have 4 Blizzaks on my 20" rims and the thing is simply unstoppable in the snow. I have driven through more than a few snowstorms in the last few years and have actually had fun. I've driven on quite a few construction site roads and the ground clearance has been fine on rutted roads.

Picking up my '09 FX35 this Saturday and currently have an '05 FX35/Silver/20"/Sport.
Looking forward to hanging out here.

does driving up a mountain on a road that is all ice for around 2 hours at 5-10mph count? i was in my friend's town in clearfield, PA...FX handles very well in extremes if you know how to handle it. and that wasn't even with my 18's/blizzaks on it. that was with my 20chromes withyokoparada's. The FX is tough

Drove on the beach on memorial day. Loose sand with previous tire tracks being ~4inches deep in the sand.

The FX made it fine. I even passed a late model Jeep Grand Cheerokee that was stuck in the sand and in the process of being pulled out by a lifted F150.

I go to school in Vermont and have traveled during some pretty horrible conditions.. through a foot of snow...up very steep hills on my way to snowboarding... Very icy roads... dirt roads everywhere (I hate having my FX up there) its not great (compared to my previous jeep grand cherokee) but it manages. I thought it would be worse with the 20's but it has served me well in some pretty serious conditions (just make sure to drive slow)

Had to drive down a dirt / gravel road today going to a company picnic. It was pretty horrible. :tears: Didn't want to drive more than 5 mph... hahaha

Traction wize Iv'e plowed through 2 feet of fresh snow with no problems and that was on my 22's. However the suspension isn't really designed for off roading and serious dammage could be sustained getting too crazy off roading. At a minimum your allignment would probably get knocked out.

i live in chicago. i beat everyone.
Ya know, for years and years I didn't know why anyone would ever complain about Chicago roads compared to others... then I left for El Navy and came back every now and then and the roads seemed worse and worse. The last time I was back and driving the FX... oh good LORD driving on 90 out towards Rockford is the worst strip of road I have ever heard of let alone been on...

There's a lot of places in L.A. that are pretty bad. I don't know how you guys do it on 22s and lowered. My FX feels so much better with the fatter tires.

After hurricane Ike I was stuck on this flooded road next to the freeway. It was sooo close to the entrance of the freeway. So I just drove on the steep hill side next to the freeway. It was muddy and full of debris from the receding water. I thought my car was just gonna slide down into the water. I was scuured. But I made it.
