Has anyone had a problem with there sunroof? I know sunroofs start to leak after a while because the seals goes bad, but I want to see if anyone has had a problem with theirs?

I don't have this problem, just wanted to pose the question.

I rarely use mine so I'd be surprised if it would wear enough to warrant any suspicion. I haven't heard of this issue either... I think the sunroof was well-made. I would have loved to have found one of the extremely rare FX's without the sunroof though!

yeah, man I would love it if it had no sunroof, just alot of added weight & way up above the center of gravity too...

I open mine occationally to pull the antenna down flat for a carwash or something... mine sounds like it's a little tight towards the end of it's travel... I tried lubing the tracks but no real help... tight sunroofs are usually the ones that something will just at some point just snap & break, at least I've had that happen to me in another car so I'm always leary of that... never had much love for sunroofs...

as far as the seal not to much to worry about for leaks, all sunroofs will leak a little, it's designed for that, there is a pan in there & 4 drains one at each corner, with hoses that run down both front pillars & down the rear too, even if you left your sunroof cracked slightly in the rain mostly no water will get in the interior really

I just hate it when you close the sunroof on the HWy and you here the wind noise (due to pressure in the cabin). I know it doesnt close all the way , so I just have to crack open a window and then close ,so it closes all the way.

Also I do notice wind noise when I have the inside cover slid back.

I've been getting a lot of wind noise when its closed.....After washes its a lil wet where the control unit is at - so Im suspecting its not sealing correctly.....off to Metro Infiniti before my warranty runs out....

i hate sunroofs so much that I had to give up night vision when I bought my dts cause it only came with a sunroof & I wanted no sunroof

you can buy the whole center roof panel without a sunroof opening for the fx & weld it in & then need a new headliner too... I have half kicked this thought around before... hard to justify something that extreme though... if I ever really went off it would be something to consider... have I mentioned how much I hate sunroofs yet:biggrin:

A friend was telling me about a guy on the BMW M forum that actually molded a piece of CF and siliconed it into the hole after he removed the sunroof assembly. he claimed it saved weight. haha

My only problem is that I forget to close it sometimes but that's it.

Sorry to disturb the long-dead thread  I found out that my sunroof was just a tiny bit leaking when the high pressure washer went across during the touch-free car wash. I could feel a few tiny splashes of water coming in. So I took it into the dealer and they said that there is nothing wrong with the seals and they can't do nothing about it. And they even adviced me not to take my car to those car washes with high pressure washer. I want to know if that is okay and normal?? Shouldn't this be covered by the warranty?? I have a few cars with sunroof before, and none of them had such problem. My final question is whether I should request for a fix and how to approach the dealer for it?

sometime the techs go for a ride with you.. so just kidnap one to a touchless car watch and show him.. lol

Well, that's not the problem. The service consultant did acknowledge my claim and he didn't deny the leaking problems at all. All he said was "we tried spraying water all over and there wasn't any leak, and we believe that the high pressure washer might have moved the seals around a bit and caused the leaking...blah blah blah...so don't bring your car into those washers anymore or bring a towel with you next time...blah blah blah....we love kissing your ass and we appreciate your $$$" hahaha...the last couple sentences are totally bogus - haha

anyways, i don't have a big problem with it because it isn't one yet. But I'm afraid that once my warranty is up, and then it will become a HUGE problem then - you see what i mean. In fact, during my service there, the consultant did recommand all kinds of "bogus" services to me, like changing the rear wipper for this amount of $$$ and chaning the cabin filter for this amount of $$$, however, they totally felt that the water leaking problem was 100% okay and didn't require a bit of attention at all!!! Wow...

I use my sunroof all the time!!! Pretty much every time I drive. On the highway the wind noise can be loud, but my music is more loud, lol.

I've had the roof wind deflector and I really didn't notice a big improvement in sound reduction. I ended up taking it off.

What really made a big difference in wind noise was the door panel Dynamat - but that's with the sunroof closed, of course.
