Awd ?!?!?!?!?

Well according to the VIN it is AWD. It is at the dealer right now getting looked at. They gave me a 07 G35X...needless to say I am about 100% sure something is screwed with my AWD on the FX. We shall see what they come up with, dropped it off yesterday...Getting a few recalls done as well as the 30k Maintenance and getting the dashed replaced under warranty, due to reading about it here!

I will update once I get the FX back and let you know what they came up with

Small bubbling around the vents, very minor right now, but would have gotten worse. Forgot to ask them about it when I dropped it off...Called them and they ordered the dash no questions asked....Under Warranty to no cost to me!

how are your window trimming? fading? if so that should be changed out also.

I dont think they are bad at this point. I am sure I will have her back at the dealership prior to the warranty expiring...Will get it done then...Really just want the FX back at this point....then off to get new tires and brakes...

No. I couldn't even do that in the snow (as in 90 degrees) and I tried very hard. It will kick in and straighten you out. On dry roads you can feel it start to swing out but the AWD grips pretty quickly.

Thanks for clarifying cuz I was curious. Sounds like the FX is amazing in bad conditions. I would hate to have to trek through the snow & ice w/ a RWD setup . . rain is decent, but not even close to an AWD.

Also sounds like the AWD is a bit of a crutch to the enthusiast driver in dry weather . . then again, with all the 17 year olds getting provisionals, & new FX's for their 11th grade report card, we should all be pretty happy they have all those electronic aids to keep them from killing all of us out there.

LOL:biggrin:

but its ok...most of those 17 year olds have driven "in the wind, with rain" so im sure they can handle anything:wink:

with high revs around corners the AWD kicks out too...VDC off of course, which isnt too bad considering its not RWD

Agreed. You certainly aren't going to get the complete experience of true RWD never mind how good the ATTESA E-TS is at trying to simulate it.

It's intelligent AWD, i believe it has sensors to judge whether or not to turn on. On acceleration AWD kicks in causing it to be impossible to slip...and the snow mode just stiffens the gas, brake, and steering as to not drift off.

you would be surprised, not hard to get it to slip even with VDC on. VDC cuts power and applies braking to prevent slippage

Snow mode locks front/rear power 50/50 and the gas is less senstive so you can ease into the gas easier....no idea where the stiffening of brake and steering came from...wouldnt stiffer steering be bad?

I just went out and did some aggressive snow driving with the snow -off and VDC-on I could smell some brake heat do you think the VDC can apply the brakes enough to make them that hot.I was lighting the slip lite up most of the time.

yea i dont think you should have VDC on when you know you're going to be sliding around because the FX just going to think you're losing control and try to stop it. best to run VDC off and snow off aswell...its funner to play with snow off, it gives too much traction

Yes, you will continuously get the slip light if you have the VDC on.
I knew that I was just wondering if the VDC applied brakes can cause excessive brake heat. So it's pretty much applying the brakes whenever the slip light comes on correct?

I believe ur talking about snow mode, it makes the gas, brakes, and steering stiffer to prevent slippage, i've been using it alot recently and when i turn it off the gas feels too sensitive now

ya since it's a drive by wire kind of thing, the computer just reacts differently to the same pressure, it doesnt stiffen it.
