Hi All. I have been looking around for a while, to find the best replacement tires for my 2005 FX35 RWD with OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE92A 265/60R-18, mounted on Factory installed 18" wheels.

I have few doubts and have done some research, which i will share in this post. I will really appreciate for any advice to help clarify my doubts and narrow down the options i have.

-- Can i replace the 265/60R-18 tires on 18" wheels, with 265/50R-20 tires ??
I do not want to replace the wheels.
-- What are the Pros/Cons of moving to 265/50R-20 ??

Here are the tires i have chosen in both the categories based on the ranking available on different web sites (this is also based on the best price available):
265/60R-18
-- Rank 1 -- Yokohama AVID V4S
-- Rank 2 -- Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S
-- Rank 3 -- Hankook Ventus AS RH07

265/50R-20
-- Rank 1 -- Hankook Ventus ST RHO6
-- Rank 2 -- Yokohama Parada Spec-X

The answer is no. tires made for a 20 inch wheel wont fit on a 18 inch wheel.

you can't replace the 265/50r-20 on an 18. the last set of numbers is the wheel size which would be for a 20" wheel.

Thanks Guys, for the quick response. I read somewhere that its possible to install a slitly bigger tire on the rim, but just wanted to confirm if its really possible.

By the way, any recommendations towards what tire should i go for. Does Avis Vs performs good ? I am not happy with the bumpy ride from the Potenza's. Any idea about Cooper/Avon tires ?

The following stats are from Hankook datasheet for VENTUS AS_RH07. hankooktireusa.com/product/RH07.pdf

Size 265/60R18
Measuring Rim 8.0
Rim Width Range 7.0-8.5

Size 265/50R20
Measuring Rim 8.5
Rim Width Range 7.5-9.5

Looking at the above stats, what does Measuring Rim and Rim Width Range means? I assume the factory installed 18" rims measure 8.0. Any ideas ?

Factory wheel width is 8in. I would suggest staying within the factory parameters if you are not going with aftermarket wheels.

Hi All:
I guess i don't have an option to go for 20". But can you please help me pick a good tire in 265/60R-18. I am not sure which one to go for....
Yokohama AVID V4S
Hankook Ventus AS RH07

I like the Hankook Ventus ST RHO6, but it doesn't have my size.

Thanks Dr.2K
I will go with 265/60R-18. Thats the size, i have on now.
Hankook does seems to be a better choice. I dont see any reviews on RH07, but RH06 does have good reviews. So i guess RH07 should be camparable.

OK. Here's what i am searching for. Dont wanna change the rims, but was looking for a good, low-profile tire. Do i have any options ?

Not sticking with 18's. Keeping the speedometer on spot or close requires a higher profile, unless you don't mind the speedometer being off 5+ mph.
