Guys,

I did a search for "fuel" and "gas" and nothing came up at all? Most forums have a thread like this, do we? Can someone point me in the right direction, I would be interested to see what other members are getting.

Thanks!

if you type in "fuel" in the white search box at the top right you will get a list of known threads. I just did it it gave me quite a few. Or you can press on one of the tag words in the "Tag" section at the bottom and you will also get a list of thread.

typed in "fuel" in the Search Forums (top right corner)

Thanks guys. I thought it was strange that I didn't find anything under those 2 very common words - no idea what I did? I must suffer from the retardation when it comes to searching I guess. :embarrassed:

15/20 isnt quite accurate, i've gotten 8.7 before and usually average around 12/13 mpg city, highway is usually 17-19 going 80-90, ive once gotten 62.8 mpg when i cheated and resetted the computer going downhill at around 40 mph not using the gas at all. FX guzzles like a full size truck!

it doesnt help that it has an engine made for sedans/coupes that is tuned for performance. i dont think you could ever see above 17 in city, no matter how hard you tried.

I recently took a trip from San Diego, to Key West, Fl. and back. I reset my avg. fuel economy setting before the start of the trip. I wound up averaging 18.2 for most of the trip. That was mostly open highway with the cruise control set 75 - 80. I don't think that's too bad for a V8. I have no idea what my city economy is though.

LOL --I do the reset when I go down the hill from Big Bear It just makes me feel better seeing that higher number.

I averaged 18.5 mostly all freeway over a 1000 mile road trip. In the city it has dropped to 17 right now and falling. Heavy footed. 2800 miles on the odo.

My trip computer says 17.8 mpg, I spend about 50/50 city/highway. I love this V8, it works effortlessly. I was surprised to see my gas mileage has improved from my 98 QX4 to my 01 QX4 and now to my 03 FX45. My 98 QX4 was a pretty slow at around 178 hp and the 01 QX4 at around 210. Both got around 13-15 MPG combined. I was thinking I was going to get similar for my FX45, so happy to see technology or something improved gas mileage even though it's a larger engine.

I keep getting tempted to get a Range Rover Supercharged every time I see it on the road -- but then I'd be back to 12 MPG range.

My wife's BMW 325xi gets 22 mpg combined and I feel like my dog puts out more horsepower. She doesn't care about speed at all so it was perfect for her. I'm just surprised it doesn't get better gas mileage -- probably because it's so heavy.

ok...
so just emptying out my first full tank and had a few quick questions.
Alright, I drove up to whistler from vancouver last Saturday and well, it was a snowy crawl to say the least. Good test of the fx in snow as well as my nerves though. I have never seen so many cars littering the ditches, including a 05 grand Cherokee flipped on its roof. Some SUV’ers assume they can drive faster, boy do they get a rude wake up call.
Anyways, I don’t think I drove over 50km/hour the whole way there and had an average speed of 40km/hour with a few periods of almost stopped traffic. The distance is about 160 km’s (~100 miles). Now this type of slow speed, awd mode, twisty, braky travel is going to adversely impact my mileage right?
I was looking forward to seeing how far I could max out my first full tank by driving like a granny, but this trip screwed that plan I think.
How much will this have adversely impacted my fuel consumption?

This leads me to my next question(s). How much distance can u get once the fuel light comes on? My DTE says I have about 50km’s left, but don’t trust it.

I have 375 kms right now (233 miles). So with this I’ll get ~425km (264 miles), which strikes me as quite low considering my driving has been very conservative, but can this be attributed to the 40km/hour torture for 300kms (back and forth to whistler)?

Thanks folks….
Jigjag.

Yes. It seems pretty fair given the driving circumstances. 20-40 mph crawl, stop and start, crawling along, snow, elevation gain etc.
