hey guys i have heard that when you have the VDC turned off you will go a little faster. is that true or not? i would love to hear your opinion.

it just means that it wont cut power when the tires slip, so theoretically you are getting better acceleration because the engine wont suddenly cut power to the wheels. i just always turn VDC off anyway.

+1 - Always drive in manual mode

You dont go faster.....just prevents from the cutoff when it senses slippage.

if you want to experience what it does, next time it rains, or if you go somewhere wet, once you stop in the wet area, then just mash the gas. it should spin for a second then stop and "SLIP" will flash at you.

yeah i always drive with it off but just wanted to know who else did and why.

I used to do the same, until one day I took a corner too fast and got slammed into the curb. VDC is like a safety net. Like I always say, we drive a 4000 lbs. car that can take the control out of our hands in a heart beat. VDC just prevents that from happening. I notice how helpful it is when I drive in the rain. If I don't turn it on, my rear just wants to spin at every turn.

Guys running 330+ HP on RWD always need to be careful when mashing the pedal in the rain

For me, in the dry, it always is off. Cant tell you how many times, when I forgot to turn it off, how it almost made me get hit in the rear by oncomings as it would cut power when I would get into traffic. I would much rather kick the rear & correct as I get into the one open lane where I need to go go go

My point was to know when to trun it on and off.
