Now

-whispering quietly- shhhtt Ray! Trying to convince him not to get it!

uhhmm yeah the spacers can cause problems

LOL...you know I missed this....shhhtt. Im leaning in another direction guys, just waiting to see what the photoshop looks like. But if I do decide on the Spideros, good thing we don't live near each other.

There's a crappy phone cam shot on post #58 in this thread. I will take better pics but the weather is crazy nowadays (it was 15F this morning!) so that'll have to wait a bit. The only thing I can say that is it fills the gap a little less and looks a little more tucked in now but it's worth getting rid of that humming noise with the Falkens.

I'm thinking by your comment you would go a little bigger, 305s possibly to offset the tucked look?

Honestly i havent' had any issues of such kind on my prior cars as long as you don't go too extreme.
But Ege this is what he don't want so i think as you say only the wheels will be just fine.
Maybe you have a newer pic off your wheels for him too see your dimensions, as i do like your setup as well. You now have 285's as i understand then....??

Ray

I was talking to the guy about ordering the spideros the other day and he goes into 10.5s being too big and Im probably going to have other issues like bearing problems and vibration. So my question for you is how long have you been running your setup? About how many miles do you drive a month? Thanks in advance.

Again, it depends a lot on offset. If you're running an offset close to stock, 305 would make it look better, like Daves. But if you're running offsets around 30, you may not need the 305s plus it may rub with 305s in that case..

huh? Believe me I don't look like this :.smile:

I'm running Yoko Paradas now. Didn't test them for snow and will run snow tires however..

You are running Yoko Paradas, on 285/40R/22s, correct, but when I looked up the tire it talks about the tire only fitting 9.5-10.5 wheels. I want 285s as well, so did you do anything different, are they fitting fine? Thanks

I'm on 9s & most would say a bit oversized. I would never have gone this route had I been on the original purchase end, but that said, I might even renew with the same size again. It handles really good this way, & tire wear has been even all it's life. If I go smaller, I'll likely be hate'n the skinny tucked look. So used to this already.

I'm ran Falken 285/40/22s first. Replaced that with another Falken set, which was as crappy as the first one. Finally I went for Yoko Paradas in 285/35/22 size. My rims are 22x9 but they fit well, they're silent and handle well as well..

Cool, I didn't want to go any smaller than 285/35, 265/35 would leave too much space I think.

ray, what is the offset on your rear 10.5's? what size tire are you running & in your opinion, how much room do you think you'd have to tuck them in a bit more? are you close on the inside? I'm talking rears only... thanks...

Sorry guys i kinda mist this as i was kinda busy with the LED thing :winky:
Turbo i'm running 10,5 x 22 front and rear with offset+40 with 5mm spacers so say offset +35. Tyres 285-35-22 BFG Gforce. I picked out these tyres as i knew the side walls wouldn't bulged that much and also have a nice look and wheel protector.
I think i can even go 5 till 8 mm wider optical (when lowered) but then i need to longer my studs and not soemthing i want to do right know.
What info do you need turbo, how much inworths i can go with my current set-up...?? i can messure and try to make some pics for you...?? Lett me know

Toni i have this setup up from march i gues, but do not have driven many miles. It's not my daily ride so. But many SUV's drive on 10" or 10'5" wide. As i said before it depends with who you speak a tyre guy or a wheel specialist. They all have their own opninion about it. I've driven many extreme wheels and never had any problems. We do the same on most of our clients cars as well and also no problems. And think about this. Let's say that in about 2-3 year you need to change a bearing for say maybe 50 till 100 USD i don't know what they cost. Would you take wheels that in your opnion just doesn't have that size just for some bearings...??
And as Ege also said it depends on more points like offset etc... It seams that this guy only wants to sell you something from the shelf.
What i do doubt about what happened to me was, when i wanted to have 4 pieces of 10,5 giovanni didn't want us to sell them. Only in a staggered set like 9 & 10,5.
My collegue went up buying 2 set's to sell me 4 10.5's as i specificly wanted that.

Ege didn't had any problems buying 4 pieces of 9" but maybe they only make this problem when you want 4 pieces of 10.5

hey ray, no worries, I winded up already ordering my wheels... going with an 11" rear & was just trying to confirm as much as I can with different setups here & there, thanks anyway though...

Always welcome... Wow 11" ...?? 20's or 22's....?? are you going to tell wich wheels they are, or is that going to be a suprise....
Ohh and uhh any news on my harness yet...??

22's, I'm going with iforged variants, 11" rear, 9.5" front. I came up with +48 on the rears & +32 on the fronts, rear tire is a 315/30-22 front is 265/35-22.

I know, I know, staggered on an awd? everyone would recommend against it, but you know me, I don't want to listen to what others tell me that they think I can & can't do  I think I can pull it off, there is a very minimal difference of diameter front to rear of only 1/10th of an inch... don't think it'll be enough to cause issues... about the same as having 2 partially worn tires on one end & a new set on the other... got my fingers crossed on this one though as no one can really say for certain how much tolerance for difference there can be before the system picks up an issue & starts lighting up the dash like a christmas tree... well see:biggrin:

I'll try to finish up your harness this weekend, I did start it though:tongue:

Aren't you going for any "wide body" conversion anymore then...?? As the size your know taking is for stock body.
It is even smaller then i'm running now, why is that. 11" with offset +48 is the same as 10.5 with offset +42 and i'm running +35. Any particulair reason why doing that...??

Wich brand you have for the rears...??

P.s: thanks for taking care of the harness. Quite making some progress here so can use it in short time

my original plans were to just order the widest tire I could possibly find that would work in a staggered setup, then alter the body to fit them. unfortunately this 315/30 was the widest tire I could find anywhere in 22" that has a matching front with around the same diameter & after ordering them & recieving them it turns out that I can fit them under the stock body, so that took a bit of the need to alter the body out of the equation. now I figure I can still get a bit more out of my current paint job so I put the body altering off till who knows when... if I winded up finding a tire that was too wide then I woulda been chopping up the body out of necessity, but now since it's not necessary really I'm not gonna get into it right now... got a lot of other things I think I'd rather do right now... if I was able to find like a 14" wide rear tire then chopping the body up woulda been more worth it I guess...

the tires I'm using is Yoko advan st's... I don't want them sticking out, I like the tucked look more really plus I want to go lower eventually... I'm trying to get these under the fx as much as possible, don't want them sticking out at as much as possible. from my measurements & calculations I think I will clear inner & outer with this setup....

All his own opinion and taste. For me as fat as possible

Do want to see the tyres fitted on the wheels if you got them. Know that advan's bulg a lot. Friend of mine got them on his VW Touareg after some dunlop's in the same size and was a huge difference. Interested in knowing how that size in advan sits on a 11" width. Let me know when you got pics or a thread concerning this if you would.

just ordered the rims from iforged so it'll be a while before I see them. the 315's are calling for a 10.5-11.5" rim, so 11" is right in the middle. same with the fronts, 9.5 is right in the middle of there spec'd rim size for the front tire too...

I want as fat as possible, but tucked as much as possible too

Here is a short story that happened this morning. I called the place where I ordered my wheels, now because of the holidays my wheels (Ace Alloy "Executives) were going to be sent out on Monday to be drilled and I wanted to be sure that they got my wheel order color changed from machine to machine with a black lip. Anyway nobody there so I left a message. Later today a female calls me back, and we get my order straight, now while Im speaking with here I remember that last night I saw a pic of a Range Rover with Lexani LSS 10 Machine Black wheels on it, I was like "whoa". Reason why I didn't get the Lexanis in the first place was because I was advised against the staggered fit, and it seemed like the guy only wanted to sell me staggered or nothing. So while Im talking to her on the phone I remember and ask her about it again, what could it hurt. Now the guy I spoke to before was like you need to go with 9" wide rims, yada, yada, yada, now the female has a different answer and plus she looked up my FX measurement, tire measurement, wheel measurements and concluded that I could run a 10" wheel with no problem. The guy only looked at what the book recommended. Long story short I ordered Lexani Wheels LSS 10, 10s all the away around. So as you guys have stated its who you talk too. So I changed my order and ordered the Lexanis.

yeah, most will recommend by the book & only go with conservative recommendations... iforged even told me an 11" won't fit the fx & the wheels I'm ordering won't fit my car in there opinion & are not returnable, I want them to my specs they'll build to my specs no problem but they don't want to know anything afterwards
