Nismo Exhaust - FIRED UP

I dont think ive seen it sold by the piece......although you might find it used??? maybe?

ya, i never saw the individual parts for sale, but since it sounds like someone was selling at least one on ebay, i thought it could be possible

When they took my exhaust system apart to put on the Nismo cat back, there was a huge differance between the two. The nismo looked like a monster compared to the OEM. Remember, with the Cat back, you get the Y-pipe, Mid-Pipe, and the muffler. Personally, I think you're short selling yourself if you just get the muffler. I believe the differane is $500 installed and it's well worth it. Just remember that you need a G35 extension pipe ($50) and need to extend the pipe. Look into West Covina Nissan, they sell it for $750 and you can get it installed for $150. Here are a few pictures of mine.

Gotta love the Nismo ... :top::top:

OT: Fothion, I see you got the lambo doors from Shady. How do you like it?

i would have loved the full nismo setup, but the ypipe wouldn't fit anyways, so i'd be down to only two pieces. i had the chance to scoop up just this muffler for short money, or i could have purchased the full nismo catback, paid for the shipping, and the extension, and then have to deal with selling the y-pipe. just didn't seem worth it when presented with the deal to get the next to new muffler for only 250.

as an update, the muffler is going to arrive on monday....conveniently the same day i leave for mexico. i'll be back on friday in time for the sox-yankees game, then a wedding, and then a family reunion so i wont even be able to look at it until the following monday.

Its real hard to get the rear 2 tips just perfect. I had to look at mine several time and adjust, still not perfect, but little more centered than yours. As long as it doesn't bother you. looking good otherwise.

Cool doors. . . let's see more pics!

Thanks just got them installed, infact it just got done being adjusted today. I picked up the kit from ShadyJC, another member, who drives a A5 now.

I just have a few pics but there will be more when I get done with the engine. Stage 3 Stillen SC going in soon. I'll try to get the DC headers installed this weekend. The bad thing about the doors is that they do not come out ore than what the pic shows. you kind of have to slide in, just like when you park too close to someone in a parking lot.

They bother me alot. Unfortunately, they tips have to be exteded and welded back on while the exhaust of installed. When they have the car on a lift, it's hard to get it perfect since the tips are bellow the eye level. If anyone has any ideas to get then bent into a perfect position, I'm all ears.

Otherwise, we just have to live with them.:embarrassed:

I thought about getting them from Shady but I chickened out the last minute and then he sold them to you. I had a lot of concerns about the kit and considering how heavy our doors are, I decided against.

Looks good tho!! :top::top:

If you can get the nismo s-tune muffler i think it will bolt right up to the stock midpipe, but you cant buy just this muffler brand new. i was able to score the muffler of the nismo edition 350z, which, from what i've been able to gather, is not quite as good as the s-tune setup. I wasn't expecting any serious performance enhancement from this mod, mainly just a little more sound which i think i will get with the muffler i have coming.

as a side not, i was on a beat run on friday night with a couple other people in the car, when all of the sudden the exhaust tone gets noticeably louder and it lost that distict tone it has. my friends in the car were all telling my i was crazy and that it was fine. i had another friend come over last night to listen and to it, and thankfully he knew something was up right away. after some speeding up and down the driveway we realized it was the flange gasket right at the muffler. blew a big chunk of it right out of there somehow. i thought the timing was funny though as i have to put a new gasket in there with the new muffler next week anyways.

well after being in guadalajara mexico for a week with work, with my muffler sitting here at the office, i finally came back and got a chance to open it up. The muffler was in great shape, and i went friday to have it installed. Cost me 120 to swap out the old muffler for this one, and extend the tips out. It is definitly different than the nismo s-tune, as the tips are HUGE. at first i wasn't sure about them, but once they were on the car i was feeling the look. Placement by the exhuast shop great, i couldn't be happier. as for the sound it is a bit deeper than stock. it took away that italian import type note. but it still has a very distinct tuned sound to it. its subtle and probably wouldn't be noticeable with a video clip. i am very happy with the purchase though, and will now be on the market for an HKS mid to finish up the cat back system i've been working on.

We should compare exhausts...maybe at the next .org NEFX meet.
I've been trying to get some FX's together for one this year, but hardly any interest.
Mine is only the HKS muffler, but the stock mid has been straightened out a bit and now sounds a bit deeper than first installed.

Make a sound clip...would love to hear it!

I think those tips work fine :top: How big are they? I think a little bigger, and it might be too much, but those look nice. You don't notice the size at first glance, takes a little longer look.

to be honest i dont even really know i never measured them. i'd guess they are about 4 inches though. maybe just a tad less. if it weren't for the great placement by the exhaust shop they might look funny, but the curve of bumper matches the curve of the tip perfectly so i'm really happy with the look. the sound isn't stock which is what a lot of guys on this forum go for i think, anything thats not stock haha. like i said before it lost that distinct tone that makes you turn your head to look for the fx or the g that you know is going by, but it still sounds tuned and i LOVE to get on it and hear it. the only thing i can really relate it to is my friends old 97 Taurus SHO with the yamaha V8. sounds like it is running flawlessly and is barking out tons of power.
