G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

Yes. Thank you. I got everything installed and the brakes are so much better than stock.

Infiniti was wrong about needing the newer arms. When you go to order the newer rear knuckles they will tell you that you also need the newer arms because the ball joint location has changed. For this mod all you need to order is the knuckles.

:good: , seasonal modder = no issues.

I just wanted to comment. I did the front recently and I wish I had done it sooner. Now I'll be looking to do the rear as well. A mod well worth the money.

Thanks Soonster. Just what I needed. Now to find rear knuckles for a better deal than the $359 dealer price....

They are expensive but considering they are made out of aluminum blocks, the value is there and some weight savings.

Hey Dee, you should advise Dave (GTO) about it

I really decide because it was time for brakes and I had these thing sitting around for almost 2 1/2 years. I had gotten the caliper from Jeff while I was in turkey. Very Suttle looking IMHO...

Yeah, the fronts made a huge difference. More than I was expecting, so now I'm on the hunt for the rear knuckles as well. Then calipers, then rotors. Got the adapter kit so that makes me feel better - the other parts are much easier to source and I'm in no hurry anyways.

Ugh.I know, but it'll be stock replacements for now (tax season). Slotted Cryos, lines & Porter pads that I already had. We'll see if they hold up to my beating

If you own a 2006 fx45 and want to retro fit the rear bbk akebono, you'll need this balljoint kit, gen2 rear knuckles, rear bbk calipers, fx50 rear rotors (g37/370z/m56 rear rotors wont work due to the smaller parking brake hat) , and trimming of the rear dust shield.

So we dont need the 2nd gen backing plates ?
Just trim the OE ones ?

Yeah the dust shield needs to be trimmed a bit just to make a little room. I have had to do this on other vehicles previously. No big deal.

I'm buying a set of the bolts from Soonster. Might as well before they become extinct. Still not entirely sure what my plans are but if I don't buy these and I want to do the retro later I am going to kick myself.

Thanks Soonster! :rotfl:

Yep, the last set went to some dude name Dave :smile (2):
And last I heard, is John (turbocad) no longer making them.

I can ask The guy that machined the camber bolts for me if he could duplicate them

anyone find a good place to buy the rear axles? Its time to upgrade. my rear caliper is sticky

Great work ! I try to make this BBK to my FX45 first gen. and hope i will be finished next week. This tread was very helpful for me. Many thank's from my side for this great write up.:good::smile (2):

They are the ball joint adapters, you will need them for the rear brakes. I have a set I am looking to unload, if you want em PM me.
