Intake coupler

I was wondering what parts I need to replace the ugly accordion piece from the z-tube to my stillen box.
I am ordering a 4" ID and 4" long piece of intake tubing on ebay. I was debating on which coupler I should get. I was thinking from the TB I will use a straight Silicone coupler, z-tube to new tube I could use a coupler w/ hump.

what do you guys think? I know it must have been talked about, but I always see the ugly accordion piece on everyone's rides

here is GTO-Dave for example. . . very nice engine bay (imo needs a CF Z cover:top:) , ugly accordion piece.

The 'ol sin city mod. Havnt heard that one in a while
I remember when that was all anyone ever talked about. Guess weve learned to mod more stuff over time.

I actually think the accordian hose looks better than the sincity mod, looks cleaner the Dave way.

Can I actually get a mod named after me? Hmmmmm . . . .BTW, just hit 3K :thrasher:

maybe we can call this one the Giggity mod?
Similar to the sin city but cleaner.
What I did was cut a 6" long intake tube in half and use a 3" coupler and chrome ring clamp to finish it off. Its attached to my stock air box till I order the stillen.

You can esentially take the same idea and use the dimensions and lengths that work for you. I just finsihed up a about an hour or so ago, here are some pics....

Heres the other half of the tube I used

I think you need a little flex in the intake tube so the accordian peice might be handy, helps with the re/re of the part and since its mounted to the plenum, utlitmately the motor moves and vibrates and it flexes with the vibration.

That looks cool . . .well . . the orange . . .dunno
Only prob I see, but doubt it makes much diff, is you still have uneven airflow with the coupler.

or maybe not . . .now that I look at it, maybe it's just the soft material bunching up on top of cylinder underneath?

or it looks pretty
or it looks different

Thanks for the comments.

I wish this coupler was 2 inches longer. It was a tight fit, I had to loose each coupler and limit them to make fit. But its solid, I gave it a hard shake and its tight. I have the old coupler in the trunk with a screw driver just in case. nah its good.

But my Z-tube looks different than the sincity post,

The tube that was originally used for the sincity mod was a ztube off a 350z about $70. Back then there were no after market intake tubes that would fit the FX. So sincity fabed a ztube to a peice of aluminum tubing to a silicone coupler to the air box.

Looks good Merch - gotta pop the hood for me next week when were at Metro.
