My daughter has a 350z....drives about 18k/year....I can put her in an 08 fx lease for $140/month...(owns her car)....or put her in an 09 fx35 for obviously more $.....she is a medical student who does a lot of driving......safety is a HUGE issue.....how much better is the 09 vs the 08 if anyone knows.....from a driving / safety issue.....PS...I prefer she get an EX...but she doesn't like the style...thinks it's a G35 stationwagon...
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thank You

Welcome to the scene.

I'm not sure anyone can say the new gen is better or worse than the old gen. Obviously first model years can have some bugs to work out which may or may not be a good thing for initial reliability.

You would certainly get a good deal on an 08, but resale value may drop a little fast as the new gen comes out.

But if i did the 08, it would be a lease...using the equity in her car....only $140/mo for 39 mos.....

If you do have equity it would be more reasonable to apply it to a newer model.

Mind you, you wont get the best gas milage compared to the 350Z you have.

If money is on your mind you should buy an '08. If you want her to stand out and have fun with a new car then just buy her the '09 and pay more..

Welcome to the scene!

On the safety issue I don't think there are any additional safety improvements from the the '08 to the '09. So your decision should be based on value. Either way you can't really go wrong.
