Buying an FX45, what to look for.

Hi All,

I'm Jeff from Santa Clara, CA. I'm currently shopping for a used FX45 and I stumbled across this site while researching. Modding my cars is a favorite pasttime, so I know we'll become good friends....

I am wondering if I can get some tips with regards to what features were available in what years. Specifically, my FX45 must have AWD and factory navigation, DVD, rearview camera, and bluetooth -- essentially fully loaded. My budget indicates I'll likely be buying a 2003-04, but I think things like bluetooth didn't come around until 2005 or later. I disdain things hanging off my dash, I like 'em clean. Also curious as to whether certain years have horsepower, drivetrain, or reliability improvements.

All FX45's come with AWD...

You have pretty much 3 options.

Non tech AWD

Sport Package: Suspension, Nav, Premium Sound, Laser Guided Smart Cruise Control Rear view Camera

Tech Package: All of the above + DVD entertainment

No blue tooth until 06
 
welcome to iS... right off the bat, I can tell this... ALL 45's are AWD... there's a package that comes with navi/backup camera... but you're right... the BT feature didn't come in til later (I think)... sorry I can't help you more... but some of the other guys may be able to further assist you...

You can get "Tech package" without the "Rear Seat DVD Entertainment" package. They were separate options on them 2005 model.

Thanks. Long story on the name, it's derived from dot com version I registered years ago.

argh, no bluetooth until '06, when it appears the radio/nav/dash was modified, any preference? Forgot to add that factory XM is a must, can I get that on all years?

Really appreciate all the help, it should help me buy the right ride.
 
Factory XM radio is also an option but a used one can be had at a reasonable price.

All I had to do was glide my mouse over the computer icon and it would have shown me your ip. You got me Berto! :tongue:, I mean tentententen5 :laugh:
