What to do 18" or 20" that is the qustion.

Great now that I have finally decided on which rims I want
I keep going back and forth between 18" or 20".

It was challenge just finding the rims I want with all the options out there today.
The choices were much easier when I was a kid Crager or US mag 8" or 10" wide and that was pretty much it.OOPS I'm dating myself.

Do the 20" Wheels offer measurable improvement on cornering?
Will ride comfort be sacrificed with 20" ?
Is fuel mileage better with 18" or 20" ?
18" tires are cheaper to replace.
20" look cool.

AAAAARG! What to do?

I live in Big Bear so there will be allot of mountain driving (tight corners) and snow in the winter so the tires I will be using will be the YOKAHAMA YK520 on either size.

HELP! Any input would helpful !!!!!!!!!!

the problem with lipped rims is they always look 2" smaller than they are so if you get the 18s its gonna look like you have the nicest 16" rims ever... i believe other than weight and money issues, you will only have benefits from the 20"rim... if it wasnt better, they wouldnt offer it on their top of the line models.

20 inch, you're going to regret it later if you get 18 inch wheels. Try the Hankook RH06's, they have a long tire rating. I've had them on my QX4 for over 40k miles and still lot of thread left.

You have salt around there? I'd be worried about that when winter comes around, it'll eat your chrome away.

Most that have 20's end up buying 22's. Rare occasion I see someone sell 20's and go 18's due to wife or new baby...

Since you're looking at the same wheels, 18" + tires should be lighter than 20" + tires. 18's should have slightly better fuel mileage but probably not noticeable.
 
i went from stock 18/potenzas to 20/hankook ventus rh06 and the ride overall was much better. i was actually surprised that it wasnt even stiffer than stock, but it may have something to do with the age of the stock rubber and the hankook being softer. i think the rh06 is discontinued and it is now rh07. also, silver or black 20 ordens are still available at wheelstudio at $100 each. they may have a few more at the same price.

Thanks for the input I ordered the 20's today:top:.I'm looking at the 265/50/20 Yokohama Parada Spec-X 174.00 ea. at Americas tires.804.00 out the door.I'm pretty sure it was [the best looking 16" rims ever...]comment that was the final deciding factor. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just an FYI - I think you or someone else mentioned this on the .org, RH06 is not discontinued.

RH06 are amazing - softer compound but long tread rating. RH07 seem to have similar ratings, but I like the RH06 thread pattern better.
