Well Gent's and Ladies’ all of you know that there are limitations and constraints when it comes to F/I on a VK Engine.
After a week of dealing with Joe, I have agreed in principal and am putting a deposit for a Rear Mounted Turbo for my FX45 from STS.

I wanted to first of all thank my buddies Will and Pierce for making sure that I am headed on the right path and Viet for his insight on how a turbo system should work and what hurdles I will be facing.

In the interest of not investing an arm and a leg for this single turbo, I will not have a built motor. It is understood that the compression ratio on the VK engine is at its max so we have agreed to keep the boost to a conservative 5 to 8 PSI. This would result in taking the my 320 ponies to 450 ponies. This will be a challage and hope that I will at least get 400 poines out of it.

Tuning is another issue all its own. I will address this with TechnoSquare on April 22nd and hope they can service my needs.

As of know I will be placing a deposit with Joe Arzate of SouthGateDyno.com 323-569-3432

I hope this will be a successful endeavor and found it enjoyable to share it with all of you at the Scene.

Mod on…:nerd::xd:

First off you may want to fix the post cause I don't know what you were trying to do .
Second, congrats on your decision. Hope it all works out for you Bert cause I know you deserve it. Keep us updated on the progress and way to pioneer ahead for the VK's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you brotha!

Congrats in venturing out there to the next level for the VK's! hope everything works out for you Berto!

have you decided if you are going to do any work on your transmission? VB upgrade?

There was TONS of talk from Conrad (brnjug) regarding various FI routes, stroker, etc... but they all ended up leading nowhere time after time :( Hopefully this will be the first successful route, or even the first route that actually reached fabrication / installation stage.

That goes with out saying.

The VB upgrade will be from Level 10
and the TC will be from Edge.

I trust both of thos brands since they have been reliable fro Dr2k.

I know...

They actually presented me with the actual Turbo that they will use and now Joe is at the stage where he wants to start routing the pipes and moving the exhaust arround.

I am very excited.

They only deal breaker in this is the Tunning. I hope that Techno Square can come through.

I have not spoken to them yet and hope to get some good news from them in the next couple of weeks..

Well good luck Bert with the FI. I know it is a pain to go through with the install, and being with out your baby for a while. But hopefully in the end you will get great result and start the lead for all 45's. That way Will want take you so easy, lol... but really, good luck.

Now this is the kind of thread I like to see... You have the same idea that I do, nothing crazy just simple, reliable boost. Not looking to break the bank or blow up the engine...

I'm starting next week with the TC, and picking up some small items to help it breath just a lil more, but one thing at a time.

We will begin mocking the routing of the exhaust and intake tubes sometime next week. Normally most turbo kits can be installed in 8-24 hours. For custom turbo systems it can take 1-2 weeks to route, engineer, and create intake pipes. This project will require extra attention due to the fact that we will have to customize a new exhaust in addition to fitting the intake charge pipes.

I am glad to see someone taking the route of doing this -

What is the peak point on the tq curve timing wise? Does anyone have a cipher log of the VK in action on ignition timing? I would think that if you are falling in suite of what the rest of the VQ and QR's are doing, then the peak points on the timing tables are going to be in the 4800-5200 rpm range with timing being as aggressive as 34 degrees under full loads.

I think that there are some pretty viable options. I am a big proponent of two things at the moment, and this is all speculative, but from experience none the less.

I would consider a meth injection kit for when you transition into boost. This sort of security will help with high compression (i'm running 12.3.1 with 8lbs). You can use this to bump your octane with -20 degree windshield washer fluid - then a J&S safeguard for a timing yank in case the pump fails (snow performance offers lifetime guarantee on their products)
