Hey fellas this is my first post on here. Just picked up my Black '05 FX35 today! Im so excited because this car is way beyond anything ive ever driven. First things first ...I need some wheels. I was thinking about just gettin some 20's but ive been doing some research on here and it seems that alot of people on here that started with 20's ended up gettin the 22's anyways. What do you guys think? Also I live in Chicago so there is PLENTY of rough rodes and potholes. Do you think that its a bad idea for 22's?

True, most have moved up to 22's after having 20's.

What I would do is keep your stock rims for the winter, and use the 22's for the summer.
 
Hey buddy, welcome to the scene. Are the roads really that bad? I live in L.A. and some parts can be bad. But it's not too bad with 22's. You just have to try to be careful and try not to hit them. I have the tendency to be careful where I'm driving. I have had no problems so far. If I were you I would go with 22's. I'm sure your familiar with the roads and streets you drive every day so I think you will be fine with 22's.

Cool man thanks for the welcome. Yeah the roads are pretty miserable here. The salt trucks really tear them up in the winter. Yeah ill probably end up goin with the 22's. Ill put some pics up even though I got nothing on you guys. But hey a stock fx is cool with me. For now at least. Im still soakin it in
 
Welcome to :iS: guny! and congrats on the new FX! We all know you will enjoy the ride.

As for your question, thats what I did. Started with 20's and went to 22's in about 8 months. We have some Chicago members here and from what have heard winter will be the worst for your wheels so I suggest 22's for the summer and back to the stock 20's for the winter. Pot holes are everywhere, so you just have to be more mindful of the road conditions when you are riding on 22's or more.

...just out of curiosity, are your stock wheels 18s or 20s now?

But yeah... I was one of those that regretted going from stock 20s to aftermarket 20s... I just recently acquired some 22s... and I LOVE them!

I have aftermarket 20's and have just recently started looking for 22's.......:embarrassed:
 
I know it already has! Im lookin online at grills now too:embarrassed: along with the wheels. Im blaming you guys for this. You really suckered me in with all those sweet pics of your rides:biggrin:

definitely keep those! and don't try to save money by buying aftermarket 20s and using the same tires... just wait until you're ready for some 22s... OR start off by lowering you FX because that's something you're gonna want to do anyway... no, lemme re-phrase that... that's something you'll HAVE to do when you get 22s... cuz it just looks kinda funky w/o the drop. Stock 20s on a FX lowered actually looks really cool... anyway, that's just my opinion...
 
Welcome to the scene! yes a lot of members move up to 22"s after a while so if you think you can handle it then go for it man! me on the other hand, a set of lightweight 19s or 20s will do the job for me and keep me content. thats one thing the forum will never get to me for (to move up to 22s LOL).
 
Well just ordered my wheels. As much as evryone was tellin me to get the 22's. I went with the 20's:embarrassed:. Just because of the dam roads over here. I went with the diablo delta force. I post some pics when I get em on. :biggrin:

You can blame everyone as much as you need to, that's what I was doing at first, but you know you want to. lol.

Congrats on the New FX! What was your old ride?
I know how you feel about having such a nice upgrade. I moved up from a '91 Ford Exploder.

I would go with 22's, they just look so dam sweet. *EDIT* I didn't read your last post, I guess it's too late.... but your gona love the new look no matter what size. What kind did you order? Post a pic of them.

My old ride was a 2001 Infiniti Qx4. It was loaded and nice looking but I just couldnt resist the FX. I got 20'' Diablo delta force black. Im into the black on black. Yeah I will post a pic when I get em on.:rolleyes:
